Thanks to a close source, we were given this interesting statement from a man that has some insight on the gospel industry and its commercialization that trumps hip hop in many ways.

Take this as you may- for many people like himself have heavy opinions on the subject.

Note: We don’t agree with every aspect of his note but there’s much to think about as you read on.

Kirk Franklin:

Our friends over at Eurweb.com reported that Black Entertainment Television (BET) has announced that Franklin will host a new series called “Gone Gospel.” It’s a one-hour music competition and reality show series that will take them on a journey of popular old school gospel music artists in a boot camp.
Report states: “Gone Gospel” will showcase the artists working towards a second chance at stardom by transforming their lives and working on their own inspirational anthem.

The “Smile” singer will host the series and the competing artists will be mentored by a who’s who of gospel greats. Source

Oprah and Iyanla Vanzant Spiritually Inspired by Donnie McClurkin and Eminem? [VIDEO]

We want to thank EEW Magazine for discussing this issue. We saw the clip of Iyanla Vanzant and Oprah speaking on their Super Soul Sunday segment on the OWN Network. Iyanla was asked by Oprah ‘What is your current spiritual practice?’ Now, those are fancy words for ‘What do you do to stay spiritually grounded?’ Her answers sounded very good like: ‘I read the bible daily’ and ‘Music Ministers’.

New Age Gospel Artist Fred Hammond’s New Music Is Pure Secular [VIDEO]

Fred Hammond is pretty proud of this new album which is reaching top ranks on the Billboard’s gospel sales charts and his album debuts as #1 and also hitting #8 on the Billboard Top-200. Thanks to Elev8.com for the information on this.

But since he is officially tapping into secular music on this album, how is it being received? Well, apparently it is doing well and achieving much recognition from his fans and gospel music fans all over the world. The question is why is it being received so well?

Singer Fred Hammond’s Upcoming Love Song Album Inspired By Book of Song of Solomon

Singer Fred Hammond’s Upcoming Love Song Album Inspired By Book of Song of Solomon
The new ‘love song’ album from Fred Hammond will release soon for those Christians that think its alright to mix gospel music and love songs together. We know that some Christians have no problem with this because we are beginning to hear those who make ‘gospel and love song’ mix tapes? What? Yes, this is where we are.
God, Love and Romance, slated to release Jan. 31, gives an honest perspective on love and marriage. Hammond says more Christians should explore this topic when singing, preaching or teaching.
“One of the things that I scratch my head over is why do we go to Psalms and Proverbs, skip over [Song of Solomon], and go to Ecclesiastes?” he said in a YouTube interview. “We act like it doesn’t exist, but God thought it was important enough to say it.”
The album features love songs that run the gamut of relational experiences. Hammond is currently unmarried after his 2004 divorce to his wife of 17 years. Songs on the album speak of Hammond’s personal experiences in love, addressing topics such as falling head-over-heels, emotional pain of a broken relationship and going on a first date–again.
Hammond insists the album is not your traditional gospel album and may make some uncomfortable, but it does deal with the practical human side of life and love.

Gospel Singer Cassietta George’s Nephew Speaks About Shirley Caesar’s Alleged Lesbianism and Adultery

(Note: we are not saying Shirley Caesar is gay, but only revealing Lerone Baker’s alleged confession.)  Usually, we do not go by hearsay, but after evaluating Lerone Baker’s claim, our head journalist thought it would be a good idea to feature the nephew of the late gospel legend, Cassietta George’s nephew’s video.  Also, we got a request from one of our readers to feature Lerone Baker’s claim, right here on AT2W about 2 weeks ago.   We came to an obvious conclusion, this man’s claim, regarding Shirley Caesar and her followers of the Caravans certainly reveals a lot of hurt and a lot of pain.

Singer Fred Hammond To Release A ‘Love Song’ Album for The Ladies

Singer Fred Hammond To Release A ‘Love Song’ Album for The Ladies

Gospel singer Fred Hammond will release a secular love song album soon. Reports say he informed his fans he is dealing with ‘love’ in a new light plus a little jazz as well. It’s said to be a album for the ladies, for women.

The already unconventional gospel artist Fred Hammond is not doing anything new. His former group Commissioned with Marvin Sapp were totally off the track of traditional gospel in the 1990′s so there’s no surprise that Hammond is going all the way and producing a secular album. We are no sure anyone would consider his music conventional since he had been grouped in the same category with bubblegum gospel artists, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, Yolanda Adams and so many more.

Kirk Franklin: A Tainted Product of Promoter Vicki Mack Reigns Acceptance in Church

Kirk Franklin: A Tainted Product of Promoter Vicki Mack Reigns Acceptance in Church

We think Kirk Franklin should just hang up his tainted Christian style and just go out into the world and do his thing! Even though technically he’s already in the world with his sassy, hip hop sounds straight from the bubblegum gospel machine, he really clowned on the American Idol show. He had American Idol contestant Jacob Lusk and singer Gladys Knight singing along with his new song “I Smile”. He did his usual clown act on stage while encouraging the singers to groove the more while he dances around like ” look at me… i need attention.” With his vain and childish performance, it does nothing close to honoring nor worshiping Jesus.
