Former Gospel Singer Shei Atkins Has New Music Out That Clearly Shows She’s R&B Now

Back in August of last year, we reported that Shei Atkins, former gospel artists announced her decision to leave gospel music and pursue R&B music instead. Her decision was made mostly in part by the flack she was receiving from the Christian community that thought her music was not ‘holy’ enough. We were surprised to hear that the church even complained about it since hip hop and new age gospel trends are so accepted today.

I remember speaking on this about a month ago when I heard gospel, R&B, black spiritual group Sounds of Blackness announce they were coming back to the music scene after being absent for many years. When I was in high school, I was a huge fan of R&B music and Soul music. If many of you don’t remember the genre Soul music, it was music made by artists who could sing with soul and from the soul like Teddy Pendergrass, Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross to mention a few (sidebar).

RCA Records Closing Down Arista, Jive and J Record Labels for Rock Music

It looks like one record company has called it quits and will focus on one specific genre- rock. They admit to massive lay offs and cut backs in recent years and have to start reinventing their music company and this includes dissolving its labels.

Parent company RCA closes casket on well known labels.

RCA has announced they are dissolving Arista, Jive and J Records and putting what’s left under one umbrella.

“My vision for RCA is to be more of a music company,” said RCA CEO Peter Edge to The Hollywood Reporter. “You have to reinvent, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Singer Monica announces her engagement to L.A. Laker Shannon Brown whom was in her latest video ‘Love All Over Me.’ In the video, many people know that Brown walked down the aisle with her, which is ironic but very cute.

They’ve decided to get married soon- in real life though.

Monica met Shannon Brown on the set of the video ‘Love All Over Me’ in June for the first time. She said though is only been a few months, she says its true love.
