In 2011, Lashanda Armstrong, a 25-year-old mother who endured domestic violence killed herself and her three children by driving into the Hudson River. A fourth child, Lashanda 10-year-old son escaped through the window of a minivan and swam to shore to get help just as his mother drove the van into New York’s Hudson River.
Lashanda Armstrong drove the minivan into the river off a boat ramp in the city of Newburgh about 8’oclock Tuesday evening, shortly after a domestic dispute, according to police. The van went into the river about six blocks from where the family lived, an hour away from New York City.

Jean Pierre: Dad of LaShanda Armstrong’s Three Kids Breaks Silence and Funeral Details
The father, Jean Pierre of three drowned children in the Hudson River a week ago says he is not directly responsible for the deaths of his children and LaShanda. He broke his silence on Wednesday stating:
“I have been inaccurately portrayed as being directly responsible for the tragedy,” Pierre said in a prepared statement released through a lawyer. “If I could, I would have changed some things in my past. I loved Landen, Lance, Laianna, Lashanda and still love La’Shaun with all my heart,” Pierre said, “and am shocked and distraught by what happened.”
On the day of the terrible drive into the Hudson River by LaShanda Armstrong and her children, Jean Pierre, the deadbeat dad violated a restraining order. Just hours before LaShanda took that fatal drive to the Hudson, the father of her three youngest children was issued a restraining order that barred him away from the family.
A neighbor of Armstrong stated she heard Pierre banging on her door and yelling to get in after the restraining order was issued. He continued his rant at the door for 30 minutes until he left. Then nearly 15 minutes later, LaShanda left that chilling update on her Facebook page before heading to the river.
