Former Pastor of Crystal Cathedral Robert Schuller Sues Says the Church Owes Him Millions
There’s a trial going on between the church Rev. Schuller once led, Crystal Cathedral and himself over property and money. The church claims the Schuller family paid themselves too richly. This should not be a shock since most megchurches always pay themselves very well. Besides, its usually their only income and many of them want to live like celebrities.
The 86 year old former pastor of Crystal Cathedral was present in a Los Angeles Bankruptcy Court this week hoping he will get a few million from the ministry.
Crystal Cathedral Founders Step Down from Board and Church Name to be Changed
Due to the overwhelming financial issues the megachurch has accurred over the years, there are some serious changes being made. Since the church has been bought out by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange last month, the church will need to change its name, relocate and the founders Dr. Robert Schuller and wife Arvella are stepping down from the church’s board of directors.
This is a continuation of our previous report, Line Between Megachurch and Eddie Long’s Estate is Blurry, Part 1, we revealed alleged report regarding Bishop Eddie Long’s empire. Channel 2 in Atlanta also shared how his ministry refuses to reveal annual audits of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church’s financial records, which could also reveal how much money has been spent for Bishop Eddie Long’s lavish lifestyle. His financial records may be known to the public, when and if he and First Lady Vanessa Long get a divorce.
According to Atlanta channel 2, Bishop Eddie long’s empire seems to be on the way to dwindling away. Allegedly, his staff refuses to reveal their annual audit for the tithes, offerings and love gifts given to the ministry.
Was Pastor Joel Peebles of Jericho City Locked Out of His Own Church?
We wonder if the late pastor of the church, Betty Peebles knew what drama would follow after she left much control of the church int he hands of a small group of board members? Even after the judge ordered the pastor no financial control over the church, the board members have allegedly took it upon themselves to lock the pastor out of the church?
Interesting. Read report below:
Pastor of Jericho City of Praise Was Court Ordered NO financial Control of Ministry
A multimillion-dollar ministry, Jericho City of Praise is legally controlled by a board of directors, not the son of the ministry’s co-founder, a Prince George’s County Circuit Court judge ruled last Monday.
Report from Washington Post:
Judge Dwight Jackson’s ruling was a blow to the Rev. Joel R. Peebles, pastor of Jericho City of Praise in Landover, who had argued that Betty Peebles, who died last fall, meant for him to control not only the spiritual direction of the ministry but its financial direction as well. In his ruling, Jackson said that Joel Peebles had no legal authority over the ministry because he was never elected to the governing board.
