Activists Slam Oprah for Endorsing Anti-Aging Skin Product Made from Circumsions

Canadian Foreskin Awareness Project criticized Oprah after she endorsed SkinMedica’s TNS Recovery Complex, an anti-aging cream that contains cells derived from human foreskin, known as circumcisions.

These activists picketed her recent stops in Ottawa and Montreal earlier last week and plan to interrupt more.

New Upcoming Movie About Jackie Robinson ’42′ Will Challenge is to Do Better

The new and upcoming biopic for legendary and iconic ball player called “42,” will depict the life of Major League Baseball’s first African American player, is made possible by his widow.

The wife of Rachel Robinson, who owns the rights to her late husband’s story, had many questions about how the director Brian Helgeland would envision the biopic for the big screen. The movie will only depict a two year span of Jackie’s life  which would be the year he broke the color barrier in 1947, and the year preceding it. This sounds significant but here are her concerns from the director:
jackie robinson 42 movie
“Initially she wanted a greater breadth to the story as far as seeing him after baseball and before baseball,” Helgeland told us during a press conference for the film over the weekend. “You can make movies about both those [time periods] also, but what I said was that the passage of time in a movie is the enemy of the drama of the movie, and I talked to her about focusing on 1946 and 47, which she agreed to.”
AT2W’s Take: We saw the preview to the Jackie Robinson’s biopic and its going to be a good one. We can see from the previews that it will, of course, focus on the life and struggles of being the first Black ball player in an era where his white counterparts nearly refused to have him a part of the game.
One thing that concerns us is that though we agree that without his struggle, other players after him would not have the opportunity, its still puts blacks in the position of just being that: entertainers. Don’t get us wrong. We have as blacks have become precedent in this society from the struggling backs of others before us. This can not be appreciated enough. We just think that once we started to break into these sport positions and have ultimately dominated the sports like, football, basketball, baseball, etc., it still gives us this stigma that we are being paid very well to entertain and not use our intellect instead. In our opinion, sports continues to be a form of slavery like the music entertainment industry. The industry’s big executives pay us well to perform well, while we compromise our lives for a life of just wanting to do such and not become business owners. We are not downplaying those who play ball, we just want to break free of the stereotypes that we have to be bought or entertain to become very successful.

Cleveland Browns Fullback Eddie Williams Announces He’s A Young Adult Pastor at Washington Church

Christian Post reports:

Eddie J. Williams, Fullback of the National Football League Cleveland Browns, announced this week his calling as Young Adult Pastor of Mountain Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Covington, WA. The group will have a special event this weekend, a Saturday Night Easter service for all who want to attend called “Rise” at 7:00pm at the church, where they will be performing Baptisms, while celebrating Christ.

Williams, who resides in Seattle in the off-season, became a Christian at the age of eighteen while at university, after a turbulent childhood in which he grew up poor, and in rough neighborhoods. Williams’ young adult group, called REACH, which the former Seattle Seahawks player runs along with his leadership team, currently as a growing membership of over forty-five area youth attendees each Wednesday at 7:00pm.
Twenty-year old group attendee Justin Blair said, “It’s awesome to see a young adult’s pastor like Eddie so driven to connect with the youth on a personal level while still unapologetically speaking the truth about Jesus.”
Williams is currently enrolled at the Resurgence Training Center (Re:Train) at Mars Hill in Seattle, and will pursue his Masters in Divinity at Western Seminary in Portland. Williams’ underlined his purpose by stating, “Our goal is to give the youth a perspective on the unchanging word of Jesus. They are being fed from so many different sources in our culture. It’s time they receive the only thing that really matters: God.”

After her fiance’ Michael Clark Duncan’s death, Omarosa opens up on Oprah: Where Are They Now?, and talks about how she first met him, their three year romance, and how she was called to enter into the ministry.
“I decided to do the OWN special now because of the historical place where Oprah’s show is,” Omarosa said during an interview with theGrio. “Being on The Oprah Winfrey Show back in 2004 was the highlight of my public career.”
“My appearance on her show 10 years ago was controversial because Oprah seemed very engaged with me, although I was made out to be this TV villain,” Omarosa confessed. “She understood what I was doing with my TV persona. To have that affirmation from someone as great and amazing as Oprah back then, was just the boost that I needed to catapult me into this decade long television career.”

Iyanla Vanzant, spiritual life coach and host of OWN’s “Iyanla: Fix My Life”, has landed on the cover of Essence‘s February 2013 issue. In the publication, Iyanla explains why it’s important for women to be honest and share all of themselves with their partners.

“Be willing to share all of who you are. So many of us want a partner, but we’re not willing to show all of us.
