Family Radio’s Harold Camping Issues Statement of Apology for Failed Rapture Predictions

The well known founder of Family Radio of the Oakland Bay area station, Harold Camping is admitting that his predictions of the second coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ was wrong. Take a look at his issued statement.

Dear Family Radio Family,

In this time of confusion and turmoil, God’s Word remains the only truth in which we can trust. God has shown us again the truth that He alone is true. In Romans 3:4 God declares: “Let God be true but every man a liar.” Events within the last year have proven that no man can be fully trusted. Even the most sincere and zealous of us can be mistaken.

Thank God! We are so happy that Harold Camping has humbled himself in his own way and now is offering repentance and apologies to the world and to God. This is definitely his start to walking with God in obedience and in spirit.

Here’s a transcript of the audio message, published to Family Radio’s website on Oct. 28, 2011, is below:

Failed Rapture Predictor Harold Camping Is Getting Out of the Prophesy Business

Harold Camping’s wife has confirmed that the 90-year-old radio evangelist has retired, a documentarian close to Camping told The Christian Post in an exclusive interview.

A documentarian, Brandon Tauszik, who has been attending Camping’s Oakland, Calif., church for eight months told The Christian Post Sunday that he spoke with Camping in person on Oct. 16 before the second coming was supposed to come.
Tauszik said that Camping seemed very unsure about the exact date of the end of the world when they spoke. When asked if he was wondering what would happen Friday (Oct. 21), Camping reportedly said that God has not given anyone the power to know exactly when the Rapture would come – a radical change from what Camping had said only last month in an audio message.
Let’s remember that Harold Camping sounded less sure in September about his calculations, said, “The end is going to come very, very quietly probably within the next month. It will happen, that is, by October 21.”
After Friday’s apocalypse did not occur, Camping refused to speak to the press. Camping’s wife, Shirley Camping, was very suspicious of Tauszik when he appeared at their doorstep, wanting to make sure he was not working for any newspaper or magazine. She added that neither of them wanted to speak to the press.
