Former ‘Your Black Muslim Bakery’ Owner Sentenced to Three Life Terms

The former leader, Yusuf  Bey IV of a once-influential Oakland community group of Black Muslims  was sentenced Friday to life in prison without parole for ordering the killing of three men, including a journalist, Chauncey Bailey who was working on a story about the financial troubles of the organization.

Reports stated this:

Despite his conviction in June, Bey, the former head of Your Black Muslim Bakery, continued to assert his innocence in a statement read by his attorney Gene Peretti.

OAKLAND — Nearly four years after Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey was gunned down on his morning walk to work, a jury convicted the former leader of Your Black Muslim Bakery of murder for ordering the journalist’s assassination.

Yusuf Bey IV — who a prosecutor said terrorized Oakland — will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for sending two followers to kill Bailey after learning the journalist was writing a story about financial problems and inner strife at the bakery.

Mysterious Illness Going Around in Chauncey Bailey Murder Trial

There is definitely something mysterious going on in the murder trial of deceased Oakland Post journalist Chauncey Bailey. Last week, we reported that a juror had become ‘ill’ and the judge decided to postpone the trial until the following Monday (April 4th). This juror suddenly became ill when a key witness in the case Devaughndre Broussard was expected to testify how he killed slain journalist Chauncey Bailey in exchange for 23 years in prison.

Oakland Post Journalist Murder Trial to Resume Next Week

The Oakland Journalist for the Oakland Post, the late Chauncey Bailey’s murder trial is delayed for this week. A sick juror could not make it to the courtroom and it is set to resume next week on Monday.

A former member of Your Black Muslim Bakery of Oakland, Ca. Devaughndre Broussard was charged with the murder of editor Chauncey Bailey on August 2, 2007, which involved a triple murder of Bey VI’s hit Antoine Mackey, Michael Willis and Odell Roberson. Broussard says former baker leader Yusuf Bey VI ordered the hit on the three men and he carried out the slayings.
