Five Atlanta schools are being placed under state control based on evidence of years of test cheating, officials announced Wednesday.

ATL School Board Chairman and Four Officials Removed and Replaced in Cheating Scandal
Former school board chairman Khaatim Sherrer El announced his resignation in the continuing fallout from a cheating scandal that has overwhelmed Atlanta Public Schools. Also four other top area superintendents were removed and replaced by the interim superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools Erroll Davis.
El had this to say as his departing speech as board chairman but remains a board member:
