ATL School Board Chairman and Four Officials Removed and Replaced in Cheating Scandal

Former school board chairman Khaatim Sherrer El announced his resignation in the continuing fallout from a cheating scandal that has overwhelmed Atlanta Public Schools. Also four other top area superintendents were removed and replaced by the interim superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools Erroll Davis.

El had this to say as his departing speech as board chairman but remains a board member:

Amirah Tavares said an Atlanta teacher helped her cheat in elementary school. Tavares admits she thought it was harmless assistance but realizes now it was more than what it appeared.
