Gospel Singer and Bishop Rance Allen and Group Release 25th Album “Live in San Francisco”

The legendary trio of blood brothers, The Rance Allen Group, released its 25th album “Live From San Francisco” (Tyscot Records) and a separate DVD of it on October 28th. The group pioneered the fusion of R&B-styled rhythms with spiritual and message music themes in the 1970s. It’s a winning style that has won them fans as varied as American Idol’s Randy Jackson, Kirk Franklin, `80s rockers Huey Lewis & The News and Fred Hammond. They continue to labor in this unique musical vineyard on the new eleven-song set that was recorded live at the Bay area’s Richmond Memorial Auditorium.

“The Gospel According to Kirk Franklin” MTV Special [Watch]

“Give me that power to walk away when another God takes your place,” Kirk Franklin intones on an early June evening in New Orleans. The lights have gone blue in the Orpheum Theatre; he’s on the sixth night of the southern leg of his 20 Years In One Night tour, which began in March. The 41-song career retrospective set is loosely arranged like a church service: First, nine exultant praise songs to wind the crowd up, and then the darker repertoire, the songs about human failure. Franklin and his six backup singers perform “Give Me,” a martial call-and-response confessional. “Anyone can be saved,” he says. “Even Kanye.” Everybody reacts. Hisses, laughs, gasps, and the kissing of teeth fill the Orpheum. Franklin seems satisfied that the reference hits and proud that it may have scandalized.

Is Gospel Singer Tamela Mann Looking Too Worldly?

Now, I have liked Tamela Mann. She could sing like nobody’s business and I thought in the beginning of her career she appeared to be humble. She may still be humble, I just don’t see it on the outer appearance much anymore. I think its her hair, for one, that throws it off. I think her hair is too flashy to be singing gospel music. Yes, I’m old school and I think even though our hair is our glory, it should be Jesus getting all of the glory when we sing praises for Him for a living. She’s always wore those tight clothing to show off her curves, but was that right to do as well?
