George Zimmerman Released and Free On Bail
Shortly after midnight Monday morning, George Zimmerman walked out of a Florida jail on a $150,000 bond.
He was fitted and wearing an electronic monitoring device and a bulletproof vest. He drove away in a white BMW and will be housed at an undisclosed location, where he will await the second-degree murder trial in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman’s release has come just three days after his half-baked apology and 2 hour bond hearing.
Pastor Jomo K. Johnson Advises Black Women to Stay Single: This ‘So-Call Man of God Is a Disgrace to the Humanity of African Americans and Church Leadership
April 23rd, 2012
AT2W Staff First and foremost, as black women we should be in outrage, regarding Pastor Jomo K. Johnson’s new book coming out in June that advises us to remain single. Respectively, our response to Pastor Jomo K. Johnson is this, ‘become a naturally born black woman before you tell us to stay single.’ After all, it took a black woman to give him birth. Why would he write anything like this? It is extremely offensive and since he allegedly mentioned many black women attend his church, we hope they make up in their minds to be strong and leave, because Johnson does not deserve to be the Sheppard over their souls. This “so-call” man of God is a disgrace to church leadership and should not have the position as pastor over any church. Black women and black men are divided as much as it is. Therefore, this statement is very emotionally painful to read. Furthermore, he mentioned his church…Read full article, here.
Trayvon Martin Song: ‘Justice (If You’re 17)’ By Wyclef Jean Deals with Stereotypes [VIDEO]
April 23rd, 2012
AT2W Staff Trayvon Martin Song: ‘Justice (If You’re 17)’ By Wyclef Jean [VIDEO]
The song and video is a pretty good portrayal of how is it out in the world. It tells a story of how many are stereotyped because of how they dress and/or perceived. Even though some say stereotypes exist and many should try to stay away from ‘looking like’ a certain group, this gives no one the right to take a life. Let’s think about how many people fit the stereotype? Do they all deserve to die or be pre-judged? Are they all criminal? It was senseless. Though we don’t know the whole story, the shooter has allegedly made every attempt possible to get away with murder, but God is in control; not the son of a judge.

North Carolina’s Racial Justice Act Reduced Marcus Robinson’s Sentence From Death Row to Life
It’s always nice to hear stories like this. When race plays a major role in how someone’s life was unfairly judged and condemned, its justice systems like this that make us believe in them again.
Report from Huffington Post:
A condemned killer’s trial was so tainted by the racially influenced decisions of prosecutors that he should be removed from death row and serve a life sentence, a judge ruled Friday in a precedent-setting North Carolina decision.

Parents of Handcuffed Girl Speak Out: How Could This Be Allowed In America When Parents Are Not Allowed Corporal Punishment?
April 20th, 2012
AT2W Staff This child in the above photo, Salecia Johnson was handcuffed by Milledgeville police. We feel they did not have to go that far, simply because if this nation disagrees with corporal punishment, then they do not have the authority to take arrest and put them in jail. Now, this child may look very sweet, but obviously if she was allegedly throwing furniture and pushing other children around, then there is a problem with discipline at home. No child should have such authority to bully other children or their teachers and if this is true, Salecia could be getting her way in her parents house and when she acts out, possibly there is no correction. If this is true, no wonder she was allegedly having behavioral issues. However, the police arresting her may have been too harsh, but there seems to have been an actual previous problem…Read full article, here.

Jury Hears How Carlotta Brett Pierce Murdered Her 4-Year-Old Daughter: Why Do Some Black Women Hate Their Own Daughters?
April 18th, 2012
AT2W Staff This is a very sad case that involved a little girl who was murdered by her mother. Just look at that adorable face in the above photo. Who could hurt such an innocent child like Marchella Brett Pierce? You know, it is not just the black men whom are responsible for neglecting and rejecting their black children. In this era, we see many black women neglecting, rejecting and harming their children, sometimes much worse than black fathers. In order for black men to respect black women as a whole, there needs to be more black women seeing their own flaws and being willing to change themselves, because it hurts to hear that some of them hate their own children and specifically, their own daughters. Marchella was starved, beaten, drugged and tied to a bed by her mother, allegedly. That is so similar to how our ancestors were mistreated in the days of slavery. Why do many of our black men and black women mistreat their own little girls and boys? Children are innocent and they did not ask to come into this world. Marchella did not ask to be born. Therefore, she did not deserve to die in the hand…Read full article, here.

Raquel Nelson, Cobb Mother Asks Court to Drop Charges in Son’s Jaywalking Death: Shouldn’t The Driver Been Charged?
April 17th, 2012
AT2W Staff In this case of Raquel Nelson being charged for her son’s death, we feel it is very unfair. We agree the charges should be dropped. No, none of us should be jaywalking and we would advise pedestrians to please be careful when crossing the street, if you decide not to cross at the light. However, how many people jaywalk and have been jaywalking for many years? All drivers should watch what they are doing while driving and in this specific case of this dear mother and her child, a life should not have been taken away due to the lack of responsibility of the driver. You ever hear the law that says, pedestrians are right, no matter what? Maybe, it is different in Marietta, Georgia, if so, they need to change the law and look into charging this driver with vehicular homicide.
LA Deputy Robert McClain goes on trial accused of beating, torturing and sexually assaulting wife and boyfriend after he discovered their affair
April 17th, 2012
AT2W Staff Former Deputy, Robert McClain, 38, was very angry, because he discovered his wife had an affair with a younger man, a former American Idol contestant. He is now facing life in prison for allegedly beating, torturing and sexually assaulting his wife and making her torture her boyfriend by castrating him, after he allegedly tortured him, also. Now, what this former sheriff’s deputy did was wrong, but according to his wife’s alleged claim, he was already jealous of her being attracted to other men, previously. In our opinion, that’s when she should have left him, because if there is an attraction to other men outside of the marriage, of course, there is going to be problems. However, Robert McClain definitely had a responsibility to leave his wife whom he felt was being unfaithful to him, instead of torturing and abusing she and her lover in all sorts of ways. He had a responsibility to find out what was going on inside of him. If his wife was having attractions to other men…Read full article, here.
