Bishop TD Jakes Gives Strong Words Against Gays in His Church

Wow! This is a tough one. If gays attend your church, no, we don’t want them trying to change the word of God beliefs in that church; but should we be telling them to go to their own ‘kind’ of church instead? Should we even have that talk because is it almost like condoning the sin instead of helping them out of the sin? Well, here’s what he has to say about it.

Bishop T.D. Jakes recommends that gays attend gay-affirming churches.

In a discussion with Huffington Post Live host Marc Lamont-Hill, the Dallas-based Potter’s House pastor, 58, said gays who desire to attend a church, should seek one that supports homosexuality.

“Find a household of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe, like anybody else,” he said, adding, “and the church should have the right to have its own convictions and values.”

Many ministries do not believe the Bible supports same-sex unions, while others do. Jakes believes that gay advocacy is wasted on conservative and fundamentalist churches.

Instead of arm-twisting and debating, he said, “If you don’t like those convictions and values, you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own and establish that sort of thing, and find somebody who gets what you get about faith.”

It’s the classic “hang out with folks that think like you” argument.

But is that biblically sound instruction to give out on a national platform?
