Trayvon Martin’s Friend Rachel Jeantel Kept her Promise to Him and Graduates from High School
Good for her! Rachel Jeantel was ridiculed for her testimony on the stand at her deceased friend’s murder trial, Trayvon Martin. Well, they can laugh all they want because she made it. She graduated from high school!
In her hometown of Miami, less than three miles from where her friend Trayvon Martin is buried, Rachel Jeantel was presented her high school diploma Friday. She said graduating was fulfilling a promise she made to him before his death. The moment was made extra special by the attendance of Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother.
“Her coming is like having Trayvon there saying, ‘You did it. You proved people wrong,’” Jeantel said.
It was back in July 2013 when Tom Joyner of the Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS) told Rachel he would help her get to college:
“This is what I told Rachel Jeantel today – “I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like.”
We are looking forward to seeing what college she chooses to go to.
