Gospel Singer and Bishop William Murphy III Arrested for having Gun at Airport

AT2W Replay from June 2013:

First things first: When did William Murphy become a bishop? Did we miss something? Pastor Murphy was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for allegedly bringing a gun to the airport.

AJC.com reported:

Bishop William Henry Murphy III was carrying a 9 mm handgun in his carry-on luggage, according to the warrant by the Clayton County Police Department. A Transportation Security Administration official allegedly discovered the weapon during an X-ray screening. Murphy does have a license to carry permit, the warrant states.

Murphy is the bishop of The dReam Center Church and a prominent gospel singer.

According to the church’s Facebook page, Murphy had just been consecrated from pastor to bishop on Monday. (Now we know his bishop-ness just happened).

Murphy was charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon in an unauthorized area. He appeared in court Thursday, where the judge set his bond at $2,500.

He could face civil penalties of up to $7,500 and jail time, according to Channel 2 Action News.

We can’t see how he ‘forgot’ and that it was fully loaded with 10 rounds in the magazine of the gun but he will surely pay for this alleged mistake.

I feel that his intentions was to put it in his other bags that go under the plane and what happened was when he was packing to go to one of his many engagements he probably was rushing and he mistakening put it into the wrong bag, mistake… We are human they happen!

  2. AT2W Staff says:

Yes, Dontrell. We are human but America is still under strict rules about guns on planes; thanks to the terrorists. It’s just not something you forget or have your people forget to handle for you. Bottom line!

I think here, I’m more concerned about the Bishop appointment than the gun since they both can do the same amount of damage in the wrong hands. Let’s be real. Bishops, even women calling themselves bishops, are sprouting up around this society so fast, until when someone says they’re one, there’s hardly any reverence. The title has been watered down and rogue preachers use it without reservation. I wonder what type of consecration process does a TRUE bishop go through? The length of such a process? A trial? We all know the truth for the most part.
