Gospel Singer and Bishop William Murphy III Arrested for having Gun at Airport
AT2W Replay from June 2013:
First things first: When did William Murphy become a bishop? Did we miss something? Pastor Murphy was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for allegedly bringing a gun to the airport.
Bishop William Henry Murphy III was carrying a 9 mm handgun in his carry-on luggage, according to the warrant by the Clayton County Police Department. A Transportation Security Administration official allegedly discovered the weapon during an X-ray screening. Murphy does have a license to carry permit, the warrant states.
Murphy is the bishop of The dReam Center Church and a prominent gospel singer.
According to the church’s Facebook page, Murphy had just been consecrated from pastor to bishop on Monday. (Now we know his bishop-ness just happened).
Murphy was charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon in an unauthorized area. He appeared in court Thursday, where the judge set his bond at $2,500.
He could face civil penalties of up to $7,500 and jail time, according to Channel 2 Action News.
We can’t see how he ‘forgot’ and that it was fully loaded with 10 rounds in the magazine of the gun but he will surely pay for this alleged mistake.
