Christian Music Singer and TBN Host Carman Pens Open Letter of Cancer Diagnosis
UPDATE on Feb. 7, 2014:
Christian singer Carman posted on his Facebook page last Tuesday that showed some light on his medical condition:
“It looks like the sun may have just popped his head out to say hello. The doctors where just in my room and we had a long talk. They assured me that what I’m going through as a cancer patient is something most all patients go through at some point. It’s part of the process.”
He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with a 104-degree temperature.
“They could not stop the fevers. The lowest they would go was 102. So I put on my 3 time UFC Champion and friend ‘Royce Gracie’ T-shirt I got for Christmas, just for attitude. I must have slept 15 hours and when I woke up I was soaking wet. My pillows, clothes blankets were drenched. I called the nurse cause I thought I knocked over a pitcher of water that I always have within reach.”
Carman reported medical personnel scrambled to redress everything and check his vital signs. When they did, his temperature was normal.
“I guess God put me in a deep sleep like Adam and pulled out a surprise. Personally, I would have rather woke up next to Eve than a sweaty T-shirt, but the fever was more important at the time (ugh). The doctor told me I will be released on Thursday and home in time to watch the UFC Championship on Saturday.”
News reports say Carman described the event as the most difficult trial over the last eight months of myeloma cancer treatment. He described the experience as “5 months of hell” but said he’d be back in the gym lifting weights and running the treadmill in three weeks because, he proclaimed, “the cancer will be gone.”
“Thank you all once again. In more ways than one this is your tour, your record, your outreach. I was down for the count and preparing my personal affairs when you came flooding in with your encouraging posts, your finances and your prayers. You all were the ones who ‘willed’ me back to life. So will I be on stage, on tour in the best shape of my life? As Rocky would say ‘absolutely.’”
Below is the original post from Feb. 18, 2013:
Christian music artist and a longtime TBN host Carman Licciardello, known by his name “Carman,” has been diagnosed with cancer. The Christian Post calls Carman, 57, part evangelist and part Las Vegas performer
The musician and evangelist wrote on his Facebook page Thursday morning:
I have delayed writing this but those of you I call friends and supporters, who have prayed for me and this ministry need to know about this new battle that lies ahead. One week ago I was diagnosed with Myeloma Cancer. It is incurable and I’ve been given a 3-4 year window of time. Tomorrow I go in for my first bone biopsy and the process will start. I used to go to movies in the afternoon, now I go see doctors. I write these things for a few reasons. First, I want to put an end to all the rumors. Second, I ask for your prayers. And 3rd, I want you all to know that I will continue to minister and win souls until I can’t do it any longer. My life has always been about ministry. I have a call of God to touch lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ and that’s what I will do until the Lord calls me home. Please, do not allow this facebook site to be an ongoing blog for cancer treatment remedy’s. That would be depressing to everyone. If you have any insight you can message me personally. But I want to encourage you, if you can, to please come see me the next time I’m in your area. Bring someone who doesn’t know the Lord or who needs to be healed. I will always pray for the sick and I’m also going to step up the intensity of my message at these events. I will not leave this world quietly and I want the devil to know that he put cancer on absolutely the wrong Italian. I have a few good years and before it’s too late I want to see your faces, shake your hands and hug your necks. But mostly I want to see one of you get healed of what threatens your future and I really want to see someone you love come to Christ. Now lets get back to business, we have to work while its day for soon the night comes.
I love you all -C
AT2W’s Take: We are praying for Carman but we would also pray that with all of the years in ministry, he would please remember the scriptures on faith and that no cancer nor demon can take him if he believes God is the ultimate healer. We pray he gets the right people around him to encamp him in presence of God’s love and healing powers. He does not need to take the doctor’s diagnosis. Only God has the last word and we must not succumb to satan’s word on our lives.
