Gang Member Kelsky Patterson Gets $1 Billion Bail for Shooting 5 at Chicago Church

Kelsky Patterson, a 20-year-old gang member, was ordered held on $1 million bail for a shooting in August near an Uptown church that killed one and injured four others.

Patterson, who brands automatic gun tattooed between his eyes, has been arrested 47 times and now charged with the shooting of last week in Cook County.

News reports state:

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 19, several people were gathered on the steps of the Uptown Baptist Church when a four-door, white sedan pulled up and somebody sprayed the street with a high-powered rifle, Chicago police said.

Patterson, a passenger in the car, and an uncharged person both opened fire, said Assistant State’s Attorney Jaime Santini.  Darius Oliver, 21, died after being shot in the head, right shoulder, left hand and right ankle, while four others were wounded.

Three witnesses as well as an FBI informant identified Patterson as the gunman, according to the prosecutor. He was in the same white sedan when he was later arrested for another attempted murder in the 1100 block of West Wilson Avenue, Santini said.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the head and remains in critical condition, he said.
