Ex-Elmo Puppeteer Kevin Clash Wins Three Daytime Emmys

Kevin Clash, the former voice of Elmo may have resigned from his position on Sesame Street because of allegations that he sexually abused teen-aged boys, but he won three daytime Emmys this weekend in Los Angeles.

Clash won these awards at the creative arts ceremony held Friday night:

  • Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series
  • shared trophies for Outstanding Pre-school Children’s Series and
  • Directing in a Children’s Series

These give Clash 26 Daytime Emmys for his work on the PBS show.

He played Elmo for 28 years before quitting last November.
