Are Gospel Artists Mary Mary’s Reality Show Crossing the Line for Christian Audiences?
We hate to say this but we said it would be like this. We were not keen on the idea of Mary Mary having a reality show and figured it would be pretty ‘ghetto-fabulous’ to say the least. Well, we haven’t watched the show at all but heard about a recent clip from an episode on their upcoming season.
The last time we spoke on Mary Mary’s reality show was when it was the rage all over the internet that they were taking pole dancing lessons. Like most people, we disagreed with it and it was really funny to see sister Tina act as though she was not ‘down’ with it. You know, as if she’s trying to maintain some holiness.
Well, now in the clip below, they have another sister who will be putting on a bachelorette party at Tina’s house but never mentioned they were having male strippers for the entertainment. Apparently, Tina is concerned her children will be peeking out the windows watching the scantly men prance around their backyard. It’s amazing how the show airs some of the most forbidden things Christians should steer away from but the gospel duo welcome the challenge of the issue.
We know its all staged but it certainly does not give Christians a good example because it should be clear that they can’t even entertain the thought and the soon-to-be-married sister plans to have the party elsewhere and still have strippers. What a way to solve that issue, right- in a Christian way, that is?
Our staff were talking about how Mary Mary can really push the envelope when it comes to their new age gospel music and now this reality show. One of our staff members stated: “Why don’t they just do something more constructive, like focus on philanthropy and helping others instead of trying to entertain?” Then another stated: “Why don’t they just get saved?” We have to say, the latter is a much better start to making things right.
Take a look at the clip below and tell us what you think.
