Video: Woman Who Pressed Rape Charges Against Yusef Bey Sr. of Your Black Muslim Bakery speaks out

Kowana Banks is a very strong woman who is no longer a victim of Yusef Bey.   When Dr. Yusef Bey, Sr. (aka Joseph Stephens) of Your Black Muslim Bakery died back in 2003, she wanted to remain silent, but now 5 years after the death of the successful Oakland journalist, Chauncey Bailey, she is being bold to not only speak out, but reveal her identity.  Banks shares with us the horrific moments that happened in her childhood, after her father left the family to live at the bakery.

Many people whom reside in the Oakland Bay Area may not even realized how dangerous Dr. Yusef Bey was, but he was a very dangerous violent pedophile, according to Banks.   There were also two other identified women who came forward with Kowana, which helped Dr. Yusef Bey face conviction of 27 charges of rape.

Kowana Banks has a very emotionally painful  history at the former location on San Pablo Ave. in Oakland CA. where the Your Black Muslim Bakery once was a place of discreet horror.   In 1978, her father who was allegedly arrested a couple of times did not return and she was threatened by Yusef Bey not to tell anyone he sexually violated her or he would harm her family who stayed there at the bakery.  She was so scared, she did not say a word, except to a woman by the name of Nora who ignored her and made light of the situation. As she remained silent several years after that moment, she bore Dr. Yusef Bey’s first child at only 13 years old and then eventually, she bore him two more children.  She admits in her own words, Yusef Bey was a very selfish man, because he did not want his name of the birth certificate, so they would qualify for welfare, but we really know there was more to it, if his name was on the birth certificate for children of teenage mothers he impregnated, it is so obvious, he would have been arrested for child molestation.   She wanted to make sure Dr. Bey was convicted for not only allegedly molesting her at the age of eight years old, but she wanted him to pay for what he did to his own daughter she bore for him.  He also tried to molest his own daughter, which was much more pain she had to endure, after being molested by him as a child.   It must have been extremely difficult for her to admit the truth, but she and two other women came forward, which was the very beginning of the destruction of Dr. Yusef Bey and his empire at Your Black Muslim Bakery.

Too many African Americans whom resided in Oakland during the era of his reign thought Dr. Yusef Bey was a very powerful man who cared about the African Americans who lived there, but we are very sure, there are more stories people are still afraid to tell about the horrific situations they faced under his authority.   This is how it is within the black community, it does not matter if it is a man who claims to believe in God or in his own religion, they take the position to be a Moses to the black race, because they give them that power.  Many times, they use their power to take advantage of helpless women and underage children.   It was very scary to hear Kowana Banks mention on the following video that Dr. Bey went on a trip to Guyana, which is the very place Rev. Jim Jones of The People’s Temple forced over 900 souls to drink poisonous Kool-Aid, which occurred in that same year.   We wonder what possible connections, if any, the late Dr. Yusef Bey had with Rev. Jim Jones?

Let us ask you this question, because we see this continuous problem within the black church, why is it that it takes an evil man like Dr. Yusef Bey to give black men a sense of manhood, supposedly?   Dr. Bey had an entourage of men followed him and they always dressed in nice suits and carried themselves as though they were masculine men with no sign of femininity at all.   Why does it take an evil man to give them a sense of pride as though they are empowered as rulers of this universe, but when they do not have an alleged ‘Moses’, they do not think to put on a nice suit and present themselves as real respectful men.  We already know they are without a father, but how long is that going to be the excuse of following wicked men like Dr. Bey, because you see, really many of the men who followed this man still turned out to be hoodlums, even his own sons he bore with some underage women.  These men put on a facade as though they were empowered by man who appeared very powerful, but deceived many people in Oakland whom admired him as a respectful leader.   While a few of these young men still turned out to be hoodlums who murdered the late Chauncey Bailey and a couple of others, according to our source, Dr. Bey ruined the lives of many women and even some of his daughters he bore with them.   How can these women ever trust a man, after he has took their virginity at such an innocent age?

We want to remind you this is what is wrong with the black community and like we said before, the black church is even guilty of allowing such horrific circumstances to occur for many years while these ‘so-call saved people’  seem to not realize why so many souls will not even hear a preacher.   After you have been molested and no one will hear you, not even your family and closet friends, you become bitter and in some cases, very hostile against the church.   Even in the black church, many women remain silent for fear of retaliation from their abuser and his or her followers. So often, women are hated by their own mothers and fathers for admitting a preacher has tried to molest them in the black church.  Believe or not, there are a lot of similarities between Dr. Yusef Bey’s movement and the black church.  This man, Dr. Bey taught his black followers that it was the white man who was the enemy, when indeed he and some of his followers were their own worst enemy to themselves and innocent black people.    The black community will have to answer to God, if they continue to put up with this foolishness among religious leaders who portray themselves as considerate and appointed to assist lost souls, but instead they destroy their dignity with intimidation.
