TBN Money Infrastructure: LA Times Graphic Shows Their Donation Process

This graphic produced by information from the Form 990 nonprofit tax returns filed by TBN in 2002 shows TBN’s structured pattern in order to receive donations. Though we can see many, many churches and ministries following the same marketing strategies, it’s interesting to see it laid out in a graphic that shows the process.

Let’s remember that TBN has done even better in recent years- even in the midst of a recession where donations fell by $30 million. According to Brittany Koper, TBN’s granddaughter and former financial director, the network raked in $92 million in donations in 2010. It also cleared $175 million in tax-free revenue, but its net income plummeted from nearly $60 million in 2006 to a loss of $18 million in 2010, the most recent year available.

The prosperity gospel appears to pay out quite a bit and there’s no wonder its the largest and hottest income stream in the world!
