  1. Apostle Brenda Yates says:

    You know what?

I am no naive chick by any means, growing up in the streets of Washington DC in the sixties and seventies and all, but I AM SO VERY SUPRISED BY THIS ARTICLE, to say the least!!!! These folks were and are total fakes! How can these folks sing gospel music like they do and when out of the public eye, they live their lives as though there is no God?? They go about the business of singing about The One True God but they obey His word nor follow the example of Jesus Christ! This is a no brainer and just plain common sense!! They could have been made free of this sin if they would just seek the truth through The Word of God! As for me, I JUST WANT TO BE PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT, ALL DAY AND EVERYDAY!!

***I made a mistake in my above comment! *** Excuse me please!!! ***
I meant to say that these people go about the business of singing about The One True God but they DO NOT obey His Word nor follow the example of Jesus Christ! They didn’t seem to grasp the truth that holiness and righteousness is right! Thank you for allowing me to correct myself!

  3. Seriously???? says:

James Hall, Richard Smallwood, Donnie Mcclurklin, Rickey Dillard, Jonathan Nelson, Donald Lawrence, Dewayne Woods just to name a few GAY

  4. Yes, many gospel artists have found it ok to flaunt their lifestyles in the church because unfortunately, they saw it accepted back in the day.

  5. Yes, Apostle, many gospel artists have been hypocritical well, forever!! Sometimes we think because its a ‘new day’ the church and many Christians have just bowed out of the fight for righteousness. If we had more authentic Christians standing for what’s right, then these attention seeking individuals would not be able to do whatever in the church nor represent gospel music as a circus.

  6. No problem, Apostle Yates. We appreciate all your input. Thank you for taking time to comment all the time.

I am no authority on the subject, as for me a lot of these older singers were singing before I was born, but like you saying listening to this beautiful non bubblegum gospel music, I love your term for this new gospel music I have told my mother about what you call it bubblegum gospel, anyway, I like listening to this music and the bg music, because at least these people were talking saying the LORD’S name and not what they do in today’s muzac, where they say him, I was discussing this topic with my mother who said that a lot of the gospel cd music that I have and listen to from people like BeBe and CeCe Winans, I have there greatest hits cd we listened to it and there was no acknowledgement of who GOD was they were just singing to us beautiful love songs, with good lyrics. I still like some of today’s bg muzac, because I like the “message” they are trying to say like Kirk Franklin’s song smile, I like the line you look so much better when you smile, it for me personally is true, because when I am angry and it is showing on my face I am told to smile, so I do and it makes me feel better.

  8. Well we can see why some listen to the music of today. This is what they are brought up on so its explainable. The only thing is if you knew where it all derived from, you’d see what changes are being made as we speak. Also, we agree that today’s gospel music can be more inspirational and can be uplifting. There’s nothing wrong with that but we say just call it inspirational not gospel. There’s truly a huge difference in the two. So what did your mother say about our term bubblegum gospel? Did she find it fitting, hilarious or both? lol

Hello, atoast2wealth, my mother said she liked the term bubblegum gospel,I like it also because I use it constantly now whenever I listen to the “inspirational love song bubblegum gospel music” of today, this was another great article.

Thanks reesecup! We thought it was a clever term and we hope it takes off as a joke but not really! Take care!
