Pat Robertson Endorses Mitt Romney
By Kebony Smith, AT2W Contributing Writer
On Monday’s airing of the 700 club, Pat Robertson offered a faint endorsement of Mitt Romney. He had this to say “”It looks like the people who were worried about his Mormonism, at least that crowd is diminishing somewhat…The question is, if you have two candidates, you don’t have Jesus running against someone else. You have Obama running against Romney.” If Christians are basing their vote solely on
their religious beliefs, they should be more than leery of Romney and Mormonism. Mormons believe that Jesus’ birth was the result of a
sexual relationship between God the Father and Mary. They also believe that the teachings of Joseph Smith, founder of Mormonisms, are equal to the bible and that ”God has not always been the Supreme Being of the universe, but attained that status through righteous living and persistent effort”.
Furthermore, Mormon doctrine (written by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young) teaches that black people are descendants of Cain and eternally cursed ”Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness he became the father of an inferior race. A curse was placed upon him and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do so while time endures. Millions of souls have come into this world cursed with black skin and have been denied the privilege of Priesthood and the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel”. (The Way to Perfection, 101-02; emphasis added).
Robertson and other influential christian leaders should make a clear distinction between personal opinion and what the Word of God teaches when publicly endorsing a candidate or speaking on political issues.
