One of our contributing writers, Kebony Smith has started a blog and and did a wonder post on ‘The Betrayal Before the Cross” Part 1 and 2. We know you will like what she has to say about Judas’ betrayal of Jesus.
Whenever I log on to Facebook or Twitter, I can almost guarantee that I will see some type of post or quote about friendships/relationships gone wrong. I can almost feel the pain as people talk about their experiences of betrayal and deception from family members or those they considered to be friends. I’m sure everybody, on some level, can relate to feeling like you never really knew the person you thought you knew (I hope that made sense). But all of our stories of disloyalty, pale in comparison to what Jesus endured.
Judas. If you don’t know his story, I’m sure you’ve at least heard his name. He was one of the 12 disciples that walked with Jesus for about 3 years. He saw Him teach, preach, heal people, cast out devils and got to hear the life changing gospel first hand. But all the things he witnessed that no doubt proved that Jesus was indeed God in the flesh, did not stop him from selling him out for 30 shekels of silver which is equivalent to 3 months of minimum wage pay in today’s economy. I’m no scholar, but even if Judas was dead broke…..Considering the relationship he had with Jesus….I’m wondering how that amount of money was even tempting? And just as it is with Judas, when it comes to betrayal, there’s never a justifiable reason. But…
