15 Reasons Why Black America Should Not Be Surprised of Obama’s Pro Gay Marriage Views

Recently, the news has been echoing people’s disbelieve and disapproval of President Obama’s pro same sex marriage views. Frankly, if Americans were tuning into what President Obama has been doing in this regard since 2010 and earlier, they would know that the President’s views on same sex marriage was inevitable. As far as we are concerned, our President has been endorsing gay rights and same sex marriage before his seat became warm in the White House.

Did anyone know or remember some of these issues he supported from 2010 until now?: DADT Repeal; Anti-gay marriage law opposed by Obama; Gay men’s chorus performed for Obama; He appoints Ellen Degeneres as Special Envoy of AIDS Awareness; Foreign aid used to promote gay rights and his letter to congratulate gay couples on marriage, or proclaiming June as LGBT month, etc.

We know that the readers of AT2W have been well informed because we have discussed all of these issues and more. The writing was on the wall long before he disapproved North Carolina’s ban on same sex marriages. This may be the big ‘hoo-ra’ but if you take a look at what President Obama has been supporting for nearly 4 years now, you would agree that no one should be disturbed or bewildered.

Our President has displayed mixed but evolving and clear feelings about supporting and initiating gay rights and we just aren’t sure why the NC ban is such a big deal now, when he showed us who he was long before. Did anyone have opposition to his repeal on the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy? How about all of the several appearances he made on The Ellen Show? Well, if that flew our some people’s heads, how about when the President and Hillary Clinton were making a huge campaign out of using foreign aid to promote gay rights? Did those who are disappointed in him now raise an uproar about that one? When the President announced that they were going to start using foreign aid to promote gay rights, we knew then that he would do just about anything for the votes of homosexuals.

This fiasco of events is just a loud cry out for votes. Seemingly, African Americans are now seeing the light and some are opposing him for his actions and decisions. We only wish people would have paid more attention to what he was doing some time ago and raised some hell then. Or did we?

Take a look below at how we covered the President’s moves in support of gay rights and same sex marriage and ultimately his campaign for the ‘gay vote’.

The most obvious thing for me is that for over 20 years Obama attended Trinity United Church of Christ. Many of the churches in the UCC denomination are considered “gay affirming” (their term), and include Yvette Flunder’s City of Refuge United Church of Christ. If Obama truly did believe in marriage as a male/female covenant, he never would have attended any church of the UCC denomination.

Lillizita, you are so right. By attending Trinity UCC he was already in favor of the issue because they are gay affirming.
