Jericho City Of Praise: Was Pastor Joel Peebles’ Ousting Infiltrated By Dr. Michael Freeman?

Firstly, we just want to say that we appreciate the Church Lady Blogs for keeping us totally up to date on latest going on at Jericho City of Praise. The hard work and networking the CLB and Jericho City of Praise members have put into keeping us all informed, has to be commended.

Now, let’s get to the sad and pathetic news that another pastor, Dr. Michael Freeman may have allegedly, as the Church Lady would put it: ‘orchestrated’ the ousting of the late Apostle Betty Peebles’ son and pastor Joel Peebles. From what the CLB has reported through sources, it could very well be the case and you know what: we believe it.

There is much church chat going around this evening that Dr. Micheal Freeman, Founder and Pastor of Spirit of Faith Christian Center was the mastermind behind the Board of mega church, Jericho City of Praise, firing Pastor Joel Peebles.

A few months ago I posted an article where it was alleged by the Board that Apostle Betty Peebles wanted her son to sit under the leadership of Dr. Michael Freeman prior to taking leadership over Jericho City of Praise.

In a video posted earlier where police were escorting Pastor Joel Peebles from the church you will hear the name Dr. Micheal Freeman come up again in the conversation with Pastor Joel noting that Dr. Freeman wanted the church all along. Source

The way in which this church board has allegedly and/or underhandedly done so many things that we believe the late Apostle Betty Peebles would have possibly never agreed to, we are not surprised they’d allow another pastor to swindle their way into this church. We here at AT2W are getting pretty fed up with some church boards looking out for their own personal interests and not considering the church membership and the mission of the church at large. We agree with The Church Lady that this may be a replica to what ‘went down’ at the late Pastor Zachery Tims’ New Destiny Christian Center and how Paula White ‘conveniently’ slithered into the pastor position there.

And BTW, for those that just can’t deal with how some say we hate on PW: well we do have your opinion and if you know anything about AT2W, we will express it without apologies.

**UPDATE**: The Church Lady Blogs as also reported that four church members have been terminated by the board. The Church Lady says this may be an attempt to move out the troublemakers in the eyes of the board in order to clean up for whomever the new pastor may be.

Disputed Board Terminates The Membership of Long Standing Parishioners at City of Praise Church

LANDOVER, MD – April 20, 2012 – Thursday, the disputed board of the City of Praise Church in Landover, Md. revoked membership from at least four longstanding members of the church.

In letters from Gloria McGruder, Keith and Denise Moore, Bobby Henry and Rod Chavez were told that because they do “not accept the Trustees of the church” the disputed board has decided to terminate their membership. This test for membership termination will no doubt result in more such terminations because the members of City of Praise do not accept the disputed board as legitimate.

Because today Judge Dwight Jackson denied the members of the church a hearing on this issue, they are even more determined to press forward in insisting that the Prince George County Court listen to the will of the people.  They want to remove the six employees who claim that they are the church’s board.

The terminated church members have a collective of over 100 years of service to the church.

“This is merely another in a long string of attempts by the disputed board to bully and intimidate the congregation,” said Rod Chavez.

Chavez is leading the congregation in a lawsuit that questions the authority of the board.  He like the others whose membership has been terminated has expressed openly his support for Pastor Joel Peebles.

“In their letter they tell us that because we disagree with them, they are terminating our membership in a church that we paid for with our tithes and offerings,” said Denise Moore.  “This is a church that I have served in for 27 years under the excellent leadership of Apostle Betty Peebles and now the awesome leadership of Pastor Joel Peebles.  I am truly saddened and disgusted over the way they are treating members.  But I know that in the end God will have the glory.”
