Crystal Cathedral Ministries Will Be No More and Robert Schuller Needs Your Money to Retire?
Crystal Cathedral Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman said March 10 that she will be resigning from the ministry to start a new church, Hope Center of Christ. Also Saturday, founder Robert H. Schuller and his wife, Arvella, announced they were stepping down from the church board. The couple’s daughter, Carol Schuller Milner, explained that her parents have been embroiled in a legal conflict with the board over copyright infringement and back payment for services. With that shake up, and ongoing financial problems, some wondered about the ministry’s future. But the board assured this past Sunday that services would continue at the iconic glass-walled sanctuary each week.John Charles, chairman of the Crystal Cathedral Ministries’ Board of Directors, said in a statement March 13 at the ministry has received “encouragement from numerous members of the congregation” about the decision to “return to the traditional worship style on which the ministry was founded.”
Consequently, the Crystal Cathedral fired one of the Schuller’s daughters, Grethen Penner who is the producer of “Hour of Power” along with her husband whose the show’s executive producer.
The church is quick to explain that the move was a part of their way of revamping the television program reaching millions of viewers per week.
A statement made on Tuesday by the Crystal Cathedral says the program will continue to air “domestically and internationally.”
The Schullers have stated the board has ceased discussing any offers with them though they have tried numerous times.
“We cannot continue to serve on the Board in what has become an adversarial and negative atmosphere, especially since it now seems that it will not be ending anytime soon,” Arvella Schuller said Saturday in response to the board’s decision.
Nothing is very surprising when it comes to the financial woes and controversy that has plagued this church and their family.
After all is said and done, the main campus of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California is now owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange County. There’s not much that can be done now though the wife of Robert Schuller offers a glimmer of hope.
“No matter what, God is still God,” Arvella Schuller said. “No matter what, God is still a good God.
God loves you and so do I.”

I’ve never ever ever received this ministry. No power no anointing no nothing and quite frankly I am not surprised.
Now that’s the truth, Prophet.
Crystal Cathedral was nothing more than a ‘church’ in name only, Schuller’s ministry was based on the postive confession movement that long ago infiltrated Christianity; a few years ago Schuller was invited to give a positive message to the city of Flint, Mich. which had been devastated economically for a $20,000 speaking fee,(where the city came up with the money is a mystery)
Why didn’t he positively confess the ‘Crystal Cathderals’ survival..?
the messsages they proclaim never seem to work for them, but people still continue to support such foolishness, Gods handwriting is on the wall..
“ICABOD!”
I hope we will continue to see more closings of false institutions and ministries masquerading as churches
