All I can say is what Riva Tims said when Zachary Tims died, “We were taken by surprised, but God was not taken by surprise”.

When are people going to learn, when you are on prescription medication, esp. things like Xanax, Valium, etc., DO NOT DRINK.

The reports are that there was no alcohol on the premises, but on Thurs. night, Whitney went to a pre-grammy party and she emerged looking, high, dishevelled, drunk, out-of-it. I was just reading about it on Friday.

Now she is dead. You know why. Alcohol doesn’t leave your system right away when you overindulge. And if you have a compromised liver like Whitney had to have had from all the drugs, smoking, alcohol, the alcohol can stay in the system even longer. Mix that with powerful prescription durgs and you get this kind of headline.

Whitney was the most popular, but many musicians from semi-popular bands from the 1980s and 1990s have been dying regularly over the past two years. Even Etta James’ death had its roots in her abuse of drugs/alcohol. Is this a warning from God on the music industry? Is this the contrast God is sending us in the face of shows like American Idol, Smash, etc.?

How could a girl who grew up in the church not be able to access the power of the Holy Ghost to beat her demons. Sometimes when too many demons are let in, as was the case with Whitney, bisexuality (her friend Robin), smoking, drinking (she was quite in her cups on the set of The Preacher’s Wife), drugs, and ghetto behavior — people forget the power of God, if not God entirely.

Well Whitney, RIP, judgment rests with God.

But to all of us: to whom much is given, much is expected.
