Missing Graduate Dr. Tosin Oyelowo Suspected Charleston Bridge Jumper Body Found

The Charleston Coroner’s Office has identified the body of a woman that washed up on Sullivan’s Island on Wednesday.
Authorities say the body has been identified as 25-year-old Tosin Oyelowo of Nigeria. According to authorities, a man found the body around 2 p.m. Wednesday near station 18.
Investigators have not confirmed if Oyelowo was the woman who jumped from the Ravenel Bridge nearly two weeks ago. Charleston police say they recovered the woman’s car at the foot of the bridge and some of her personal items.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Charleston County Rescue Squad were assisting in the search. Source

A bright and promising young women went missing early this month and the family is seeking any information and prayers at this time.
Reports have sadly stated that witnesses have reported seeing a woman jump from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Dec. 9th the same day Nigerian woman Tosin Oyelowo went missing. The police have not found this woman’s body but they have identified the woman as a student of Medical University of South Carolina.
Charleston Police Department confirmed today that the woman was 25-year-old Tosin Oyelowo, who had been reported missing when she did not show up for work at MUSC on Dec. 12. According to a report from the Daily Times of Nigeria, Oyelowo came from Lagos, a city of 8 million people on the coast of the West African country. Her family moved to Raleigh, N.C., and she went on to study at the University of Charleston (West Virginia) School of Pharmacy. At the time of her death, she was a first-year pharmacy resident at MUSC. Source
Police say eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed Oyelowo’s identity. According to an incident report, police found Tosin’s car was seen parked at the Shell gas station on the Mt. Pleasant side of the bridge. Her purse and keys were found at the top of the bridge near where she had been seen around 3:40 p.m.
Authorities are still searching for the body of alleged missing woman with a future not yet realized.
The family has issued this statement two days before this report was given on Dec. 19th.
On behalf of the entire Oyelowo family, we express our gratitude to everybody for your prayers, support & expression of love during this period. As most of you are aware, Tosin Oyelowo was reported missing on Friday, December 9, 2011. The Charleston, South Carolina Authorities were notified and have been investigating this incident. The information we have from the Police, which is also available on the Internet as an Incident report, indicates that Tosin’s personal effects were discovered around the Ravenel Bridge. This is where the police had gotten a report that someone jumped off the bridge. This is all the information we have for now and a body has not yet been recovered. We continue to covet your prayers and support for the family at this time. The family is in close communication with the Polce. Anyone who has further information should please contact the Charleston, SC police or the family. The Daily Times Nigeria had already pronounced her disappearance as a suicide before witnesses had come forward to state they saw her jump. Friends and loved ones state it could not be true that she jumped and some feel it was a staged scene.
