Bishop Walter L. Hawkins of Love Center Church Was Blessed To Preach, Not Just Gifted To Sing

Dear readers of Repent Gospel Artists blog, we just wanted to know if you ever heard the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, Sr. preach?   Remember what we said in a prior article, there is gifts and calling without repentance(Romans 11:29)?   This means that although Bishop Walter Hawkins’ church was allegedly known in the Oakland Bay Area for being gay affirming and included members like the late drag queen, Sylvester, he was blessed with a gift.  Bishop Walter Hawkins, Sr. was also a dynamic preacher, not just a born gospel singer and composer.   So, we thought we would share this dedication to this legendary gospel artist and bishop.  Although, Love Center Ministries allegedly affirmed homosexuality and a few of the board members were originally dismissed for being homosexuals by his son, Jamie Hawkins who voluntarily resigned as pastor of the church, Bishop Walter Hawkins had a special gift to encourage and bless others when he was alive.   The point we are trying to make is this, many of these gospel artists were not blessed to preach like him, although he made wrong choices in his ministry at one point.

On this following video, Bishop Walter Hawkins spoke about not having a pity party and encouraging yourself in the Lord.  He spoke about how we can trust God, because He knows everything we go through, no matter how bad it may seem.   This video really revealed Bishop Walter Hawkins was anointed to preach…Read full article here.

I personally don’t agree even tho bishop Walter Hawkins was a very gifted man, he was no difference from anyone one else when it comes to sin. The lord tells us to repent and then turn from it. If there’s one thing i understand it’s, just because God has gifted you in a certain area of ministry, it doesn’t excuse willful sin. He made a choice that he would lead and Pastor a church, while he was living a secret homosexual lifestyle. This is the very thing that’s plaguing our churches today, I understand that the article is not referring to his lifestyle but for me, one integrity means so much, I would ask the question was God pleased with the fact that he had to compromise the gospel by not preaching the truth in order to retain a large following, fame and fortune in the gospel world. I do understand that we have our struggles, but when you are a Bishop and a leader, you are seeking deliverance, and stepping down from the office until God restores you back. The bible never told us to look upon the gifts in a man, but rather the fruit, and weather ones walking in Holiness. God is so faithful, that if we ask him, and have a willingness to Change he will deliver.
    God Bless!

2 Corinthians 5:12-13 12.It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning. 13.God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.

Child of God, we agree with you on the stance that gay gospel artists and ministers have plagued our churches and need or needed to step down to be restored. We know they have led many astray with their hypocritical lifestyles. We spoke about this in our series: in our “How Gay Gospel Artists Left a Tainted Legacy” Part 1-3. There is one thing we do have to say is: though we expose those in a position to make an impact on many people, we do have to recognize that the talents God blessed them with, were intended to be a blessing to us. For the many people who grew up on his music, we, at the time were blessed by his preaching and teachings. Though we may not have known about his lifestyle then, many were touched by his “calling”, so to speak. With that being said, though we are sure near the end of his life he recognized he had helped damage many of his followers, we pray he repented and made it in. We heard Bishop Hawkins speak before his death about how his son Jamie asked him if he had done the right thing living his ‘life’ that way. He was questioned by his son because he wanted to make sure he made it in. Also, if you didn’t know, we did an article on how Jamie Hawkins took over the church and tried to change the staff and gay movement. Though the church rejected him and he left, Jamie Hawkins was trying to do what God wanted him to do. So, again we will continue to expose those you need to be but we do have compassion because ultimately he had a soul and we pray it was not lost.

We appreciate your comment and it was well taken. God bless!

Very dangerous man. Gifted and talented and working both sides of the Heavenly Gates. Not good. Because it is men like this who introduce relativity which is the road to destruction. The gift is like a soul. It must be housed in a pristine temple, OR ELSE, it is like using God’s armament to the benefit of the enemy.
