Why Pastor Joel Osteen Can’t Address Real Life Issues Without Fumbling

I think it would be great to hear many mega church ministers answer some real life questions on a biblical basis. It appears that some of them, like Pastor Joel Osteen of Houston’s Lakewood Church have a huge problem addresses questions that reflect God’s word but why? We will answer that at the conclusion.

Here are some questions interviewer Piers Morgan addressed Pastor Joel Osteen and his wife Victoria on a recent show.

1) Piers asks Osteen his views on abortion and capital punishment:

Joel Osteen:

“You know, it’s a complicated issue, Piers. I haven’t thought a whole lot about it but, of course, you know, and I’m for second chances and mercy, yet, the flip side is there’s consequences for what we’ve done and, so, I — I don’t know what my total stance is . . . “

As you can see, he tried to avoid answering this question by playing both sides and not giving a total stance on either one. Oh, that’s right- he said he didn’t have a ‘total stance’. But shouldn’t a pastor know what God says about these issues and his heart on the matter?

At this moment, Piers is frustrated with his fuzzy and indefinite answers on issues that are addressed everyday. He presses him for clarity and Osteen says:

“Yes. Well, if I could I would but I’d have to — let me study it and I’ll come back with a great answer someday for you.”

This is worse than the first response and it proves his ignorance or resistance to really address the issue.

2) Piers asks Osteen on his views on same sex marriage:

Joel Osteen’s statement from an earlier show on Piers Morgan’s show was:

“Yes, I’ve always believed, Piers, the scriptures shows that it’s a sin, but, you know, I’m not one of those that are out there to bash homosexuals and tell them that they’re terrible people and all that.”

Now, his response this time around after seeing that clip of himself:

“You know, Piers, it really never changes because mine was — mine’s based out of the scripture. That’s what I believe that the scripture says that — that homosexuality is a sin. So, it — you know, I believed it before and I still believe it now. Again, I would just reiterate what I said, … — I’m not mad at anybody. I don’t dislike anybody. But, you know, you know, respecting my faith and believing, you know, in — in what the scripture says, that’s the best way I can interpret it.”

So its: fumble- fluff- fumble- fluff… falling!

Alright, now here’s the question of the year and if he doesn’t answer this one correctly, he will lose at this game.

3) Would Osteen perform a same-sex marriage? And his answer was:

“Well, you know what, I’m going to respect the law and I’m going to respect gay people like I do now, you know, have plenty of people that come to our church and friends, I would call, that are gay so I’m going to respect that. I think where it puts a difficult situation is me being a Christian pastor believing the scripture, you know, it would be against my faith to marry two gay people.” Later, he added: “…  But, my faith, when we say marriage, I mean, I think about it, Piers, and all through the Bible there are, you know, hundreds of marriages but none of them are shown as between, you know, the same sex. And, again, I’m not against anything but I just believe that’s what the Bible teaches . . .”

Fumble-fluff- fluff- fluff- getting up and more fluff!

Actually, he’s playing it really safe. He doesn’t want to offend anyone, which shouldn’t matter when the truth is the truth. But you almost get the impression and gut feeling he just might do it. And he just might one day.

But- would he attend a gay marriage? How about that one Joel?:

“Well, I haven’t been to many weddings lately to begin with and I’m talking about somebody that was, you know, dear to us. I’m not going to disrespect somebody that’s dear to us and say, you know what, you’re not good enough for us or something like that. That’s the way that I would see it. Now, I’m not going to just run off and go attend, you know, certain marriages just to make a statement because that’s not who I am and that’s not what I stand for and, again, I don’t look down on those people.”

And… fluff – fluff- fumble- fumble-falling down a pit!!

Joel Osteen says being gay is a sin; he would never perform a gay marriage BUT he’s surely not want to offend a friend or family member and not attend their gay wedding! Outrageous, Joel!

So, let’s address our statement: Why Pastor Joel Osteen Can’t Address Real Life Issues Without Fumbling. Maybe a better one would be: What’s keeping him from dealing with the world’s issues as a clear cut and audacious Christian pastor?

Well , I have to agree with Pastor Kevin Shell and his popular Facebook note, “One World Music”. He stated it well by including his knowledge of just why popular pastors preach inspiration (fluff) and do not address real world issues on a biblical basis. He’s seen and read contracts that many pastors must follow:

“Many of the preachers are under contract and have GAG ORDERS to keep their mouths shut!!! And yes, this is why so called Christian artist like Ray Boltz, Tonex and Jennifer Knapp can defiantly come out of the closet and there are still pulpits and Christian venues across the country that will celebrate them and allow them to preach a FALSE CHRIST.”

“…I believe most of these artists and preachers started off with the greatest intentions but got deceived by the FALSE LIGHT of the one that can transform himself into an angel of light…SATAN! Then there are some that it didn’t take hardly any arm twisting at all to sell their souls for fame and the applauds of men. Just remember in Matthew Chapter 7 it says “Not everyone that says to me LORD LORD shall enter the kingdom of heaven. Sadly there are some artist and preachers mentioned above, as well as others not mentioned in this post that would sing and preach IN HELL if the price was right and there was a clause in the contract allowing them to get out.” (Read full story here)

So, folks there you have it. I do believe its just that simple. Pastors like Joel Osteen get paid well to shut up and fluff it around. It’s sad but true and please let’s keep praying for them. Souls are at stake.

I don’t expect Joel Osteen to speak for God. I don’t expect him to know right from wrong. He is a hireling, not a pastor. He is in there to make money. Money is what he is after, not truth.
He is worse than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is wolf and dresses like one, talks like one, and acts like one.
Satan wears disguises and one of his disguises can be found in Osteen’s closet.
It is crazy for these television hosts to expect any sound answers from Osteen.
They get what they pay for: a hireling.

  2. AT2W Staff says:

Very true, Susana. Joel Osteen’s father John was a righteous man of God and he’d be totally ashamed of what he’s done to his ministries if he were here.

  3. How about putting it like this he too is a “pimping” pastor that could care less about the people and God s truth….if zombies don t read anything else in the Bible for themselves then take time out to read the parts in RED….because at the end it does not matter what Joel said or any other pimp that takes God s Word and twists it to fit them and to “get along” with the paying zombies…. it only matters what Jesus said and did when he walked this earth….Jesus had compassion, mercy and love for ALL people—he did not make excuses for their sins he came so that we could be saved FROM our sins……I ll say it and say it as long as I have the freedom to——–THE GAME AINT CHANGED JUST THE PIMPS…this one want to be on both sides of the fence and when you are in-between then you are just as he is a POOR REPRESENTATIVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. You said it all Zombies!

I used to like Joel Osteen, even when people tried to tell me he’s a cult leader. While I don’t believe he’s a cult leader, I am very disappointed with him. He’s not answering these questions like a true man of God. It seems like he rather please man than God! That’s outrageous. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Joel better come correct and start standing for righteousness before God brings down His judgement!

  6. AT2W Staff says:

Oh yes, that’s another side of it- of course!! lol

  7. AT2W Staff says:

Thanks for commenting, Holy chick. Yes, we agree that Joel Osteen is very good yet wrong for misleading people and he never can answer the questions clearly. We all have to take account for what we do or not do. Its just a shame he abandoned the ways of his father as his ministry was John Osteens at first.

  8. Toya says:

Joel always does this. It’s like he wants to obey the Bible ( something he never uses when preaching) and not offend someone living in sin. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. He did the same thing on Larry King when asked if Jesus was the only way. Man up Joel!

  9. AT2W Staff says:

Yes. Every time he gets on a show, he has not idea what to say and is tie tongue. But he has not problem being a inspirational speaker at church every Sunday. Totally washed.
