UPDATE: Black Father Who Beat Son on Camera Is Now Jailed For Child Abuse

Devery Michael Broox, arrested for videotaping child abuse on young son last month

Last month, we posted a report on a father who videotaped himself disciplining his son by using corporal punishment. Apparently, on Sept. 26th, the father, Devery Michael Broox, 25, was arrested for child abuse.

In our prior article we stated:

The father rebuking his son for getting into trouble at school. The father is actually filming the child as he shaves his head and eyebrows, whoops his child with a belt and have him exercise outside in boot camp style.

An associate professor at Howard University, Dr. Ivory Toldson quoted another article on the subject and said that Broox should be arrested.

Word has been out now that Devery Michael Broox has been arrested (http://www.jailbase.com/en/arrested/fl-occ/2011-09-26/devery-michael-broox-11037327) for his actions.

We can see why the father was arrested and he should know now that he went too far. By videotaping it, it was embarrassing and damaging to this young boy along with disturbing for all of us. Though we believe in not ‘sparing the rod’ as the bible states, he crossed the line on that day and now he will pay the price for his choices.

We pray the boy will get the support he needs to heal from this.

I know this guy PERSONALLY! Devery is a very nice man he is a mentor and helps boys in the community along with a group of guys I went to college with. He isnt cruel person nor evil and ten years is to the EXTREME. I am going to make sure I go to the courtroom and support Devery because he is somebody who cares about our youth and in the black community we all know that this form of discipline is 100% normal and most of us were raised this way. We are not dead and are parents are not in prison. Those whoopings we got saved many of our lives. I dont get it that you cant whoop your kid with a belt but cops can break your bones with night sticks, tazer you or shoot and kill you. What sense does that make?

Golden, we agree that discipline is necessary and most Blacks know all too well about what does on behind closed doors but the shaving of the eyebrows and videotaping it was pretty cruel. We are sorry he may get 10 years for this. Wow, that does seem extreme. We will try and keep up with the case too.
