Crystal Cathedral Drawing Offers to Buy Church, Forth from My Father’s House Church

Rev. Mark A. Thomas and his My Father’s House Church International is interested in purchasing the bankrupt Crystal Cathedral for $50 million.

Thomas wants to “honor the history” the Crystal Cathedral has in Garden Grove, Ca. and promises to pay off all its creditors in the process. My Father’s House Church International is the latest of many offers to purchase Robert Schuller’s church.

The Crystal Cathedral has received three other offers totally four from churches, a university and an investment company.

The first offer came from Greenlaw Partners, an Orange County real estate investment group, offered to purchase the property for $46 million in May under lease agreements with plans to build apartment homes and option to buy back.

The second offer came from Chapman University with a $46-million bid, allowing the church to lease it back and they would use the surrounding property for a health sciences center.

Thirdly, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange has  interest in the property but has not made an official offer.

AT2W’s Take: We are not sure what direction the Schullers will be going in getting their church building and finances on track, but seeking God and his will should be the first priority. With all of the scandal that has surrounded this church and its ministry, God needs to be in control now.
