Another Fatal Shooting by BART Officers Spark Protesters to Shut Down Train Stations

Charles Hill, a 45 year old man was fatally shot in San Francisco by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police on 4th of July weekend on Sunday night. Two officers responding to a report of a “wobbly drunk” shot Hill in the torso when officials say he came at them with a knife.

A rally of protesters of about 100 protesters gathered Monday afternoon on the same platform at the Civic Center/UN Plaza station where Charles Hill was slain.

During the protest for following Monday, three stations in all were closed down at some point in the evening.

BART have just settled in court to pay the mother of the slain young man Oscar Grant less than two weeks ago.  Oscar Grant, an unarmed black passenger, was fatally shot by a white officer New Year’s Day 2009.
