Bernice King to Allegedly Announce Her Resignation from Bishop Long’s Church

Bernice King to Announce Her Resignation from Bishop Long’s Church

We have received a report that Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be making a formal announcement of her leaving the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church as an elder under Bishop Eddie Long. The announcement is to take place on Tuesday.

From news reports we stated earlier, Bernice King made her last appearance at New Birth Church on Sunday’s 11 a.m. service as  she was seen giving  alter call.

There is no indication her resignation has to do with the settlement of Bishop Long’s sexual misconduct case or not but there are a lot of possibilities why she could be leaving. We won’t speak on those until we hear the facts from her alleged announcement on Tuesday.

On the contrary, a source reported by BCNN1 has stated that Bishop Long has given her his blessing in the wake of her resignation. According to this anonymous source, Bernice King had been planning this move for the past 2 years. Apparently, though the timing of this news has ironically come after the settlement in the Bishop Long case, the source stated her decision to leave has nothing to do with it.

Bernice King is said to announce her resignation to a popular radio station in Atlanta.

We will update you as soon as the story develops.
