Troy Dale West, a white man, who beat and yelled racial slurs at a black female Army reservist Tasha Hill in September of 2009 was released early. Troy Dale West was to spend a minute sentence of only six months which had started in October this year.
Sherriff Tompkins of Worth County says West served 45 days and was released on Dec. 3rd this month. He had 4 1/2 months remaining of the 6 months sentence.
Troy West could have spend up to 44 years in prison for the beating of Tasha Hill in a Cracker Barrel restaurant outside of Atlanta in 2009 but West took a plea deal.
It sure seems like he received a even better deal while being able walk free in less than half the time he served. Wow. It doesn’t really seem like he was punished for much at all. But this is how it goes in some of these cases. Justice may not always be served but the judge over the courtroom that day he was convicted is not the last judge. He will surely have the final say.
We pray the Hill family will continue to heal from the horrible ordeal despite this injustice.
