There is now a fourth young man that has come forward about being coerced into a sexual relationship with Bishop Eddie Long. Goodness! Will it ever stop? This story will probably continue to develop over the coming weeks as many other young men find refuge and courage to stand up against this well know Bishop of Atlanta, Ga,.
The attorney for the other three young men- Anthony Flagg, Maurice Robinson and Jamal Parris, B.J. Bernstein is filing a lawsuit on behalf of a young man named Spencer LeGrande. Spencer LeGrande was a member of New Birth Charlotte, which is a satellite church of Bishop Long’s in Charlotte, N.C.
Reports from 11alive.com state that LeGrande was present at a service where Long preached about “absentee fathers” in May 2005. LeGrande was moved by the sermon and decided to approach the alter for prayer and comfort. At that time, he walked up to Bishop Long in tears and as Long held him he told him, ‘I got you’, ‘I will be your dad’.
At the time Spencer LeGrande was 16 years old. LeGrande adds in his complaint that Bishop Long would get angry with him if LeGrande would not call him on a regular basis. He stated that Long wanted him to call him ‘dad’. As Long did for the other three teens, LeGrande was showered with expensive gifts, upscale dinners and overseas trips along with sexual relations for an exchange.
LeGrande says the bishop had bought him a car and encouraged him to move to Atlanta, where sexual relations allegedly continued. This went on until sometime until early 2009.
