Would there be such a high response rate and extreme concern for Haiti, if George Bush was still the President of the United States? Probably not. The Bush administration did not respond so quick when Hurricane Katrina hit and many people died in that disaster. Many supporters of the Republican party made excuses for him and did not care for the victims of hurricane Katrina as they did for the people who died in the Tsanumi disaster. You heard of consideration for the victims of Tsanumi in the media, but not much regard for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Now that President Barack Obama is the President of the United States, there is much concern for the victims of Haiti. What does that say, clearly, when there is an African American President, there is extreme concern for black people in any disaster and even society of any race seems to care more than before he took office.
President Barack Obama says that the people of Haiti will not be forsaken or forgotten and he has encouraged Americans to also consider the victims. If Bush or any President of the Republican party was still in office there would not be such regard for them and for some reason people within the American society would be afraid to consider the victims of Haiti; therefore, it would not even be recognized much in the press.
