Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, says he is changing parties to become a Republican. It should be no surprise that he is changing parties, since he has voted against all major Democratic initiatives this year, including the stimulus, cap and trade and health care bills.
Rep. Parker Griffith has been known to oppose House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and admits he would never vote for her to be speaker again.
Parker Griffith won the seat last year by a three-point margin over Republican Wayne Parker. He replaced the retiring Rep. Bud Cramer, who was also mentioned as a possible party-switcher.
