It was a really nice theme! Just wanna say thank you for the data you have fanned. Just continue penning this kind of post. I will be your patriotic reader. Gives Thanks once more.
In 1975 at the age of 18 I was convicted of a felony. I have had sustainable employment for over 30 years servicing electronic equipment. March 6, 2009 I was laid off from a large company with a severance package. It has been almost two years. I have not found suitable employment. I was told recently I was hired at a company, even after I put my 30 old year conviction on application. I was called back the day before start date to tell me because of my convictions I would not be hired! I am in Wisconsin. I have applied for Executive Clemency once. Turned down and waiting to be seen shortly for my next hearing. When we are young sometimes we don’t have our head together. When you learn for your mistakes, and live a life as a model citizen do we need to have this past stop us from living a normal life again without being penalized and having to take a Mickey Dee’s job, even though we have talents!!
Is there an organization or committee I can join or communicate with to get involved with helping others to create legislation for Felons to get back to work. I am sure I am not alone.
Thank you
Pete
Hi Pete, thanks for reading our post. We just want to say you are very brave to share your story on our blog. Also, not many people will be honest of how they are mistreated when trying to put their life back together while facing discrimination of their past.
A lot of times, you endure these struggles, because possibly you were not created to be an employee, but an employer. Think about it, you could very well create a business that will hire ex-felons who have faced the same discrimination. Also, if you cannot find an organization or committee, you should start one yourself and you could be the director and earn a salary for your non-profit organization to attack this issue and create a legislation.
Furthermore, a lot of these companies are just nasty toward people anyway, they will go so far to discriminate against those who have a bad work history or because of age, in order to hire the youth, which is ageism, called prejudice.
Many blessings to you, keep reading blog.
