No doubt, Heather Ellis took the plea bargain, because she hardly had enough supporters, even after her relatives proved the KKK made a personal visit to each of their homes, forewarning them not to march.  Even Rev. Al Sharpton was not present during this case.  Although, it is a known fact African Americans are not supported by civil rights activists in this era, it is very sad Heather Ellis chose to plead guilty to multiple crimes she did not do.

On the way out of the court room, Heather Ellis admitted that all of the witnesses went against her, because they were told to so.  The reporter could not believe that it is possible for a group of people to conspire and plot to lie on one individual, possibly because he is not in Heather’s predicament.

As Heather Ellis left the court room, her racist attorney defended Kennett, Missouri, saying the media came to find racism that never existed.  That proves how racist the town is, when her attorney said those words.  It also proves that Heather Ellis could not find a good attorney to represent her case.  Why would her attorney defend the town, instead of defending his client?  Is that the best the Ellis family could do?  Is that what it is like living in Kennett, Missouri, as a black person who have to chose any lawyer who is willing to take the case, even if he is a white supremacist?  Also, look at the fact that the same business cards that were delivered by a police officer to the homes of the Ellis family were scattered along the route that read: “You have been paid a social visit by the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The next visit will not be social.”  At another rally in support for Heather Ellis, opponents stood on the sidelines waving Confederate flags. Her attorney says the Kennett Missouri is not racist?

Although, it is not good to lie and admit to something you did not do, Heather was possibly focusing on getting married to her husband who is a state trooper, continuing her career as a teacher and furthering her career as a medical doctor.  However, she will be on one year’s probation and on good behavior, the charges will be off of her record.

It makes you wonder, are black people paying a price for the years of failing to love themselves and each other?  Such situations yet occur in America while African Americans are yet divided while still disrespecting and killing each other.
