The reason why it is so very important for you to stop snoring, is because if you snore loud, you have no idea what similar sound it may have to a growling bear.  The reaction of snoring can control the heart of other people, when they breathe they cannot do it properly, because your snoring may interrupt their breathing pattern.  There is a solution for all people who snore.  First, it is important to find out why you snore, then do whatever it takes to stop snoring for good.  A lot of people snore, because they have sleep apnea, which causes one to stop breathing several periods during the night. This is dangerous; so you must do something about it.

Reasons you may snore could be from the things you do or just simply things that occur on a daily basis.

Allergies – Many people who have allergies, because of pet hair will snore.  Possibly, there is a lot of dust in your house or you may not always keep a clean house.  The way you live daily may cause allergies and you just simply need to make changes, so you will no longer snore.  If you have allergies you may have a blocked, itchy and runny nose. The lining of the nose and throat most likely will be swollen. This may interfere with sleep and cause you to snore.

Smoking – How many people smoke?  If you smoke or even around people who smoke, this is possibly why you snore.  Stop smoking and you will stop snoring.  Smoking cigarettes causes swelling, inflamation and irritation to your nostrils and throat, making snoring more likely. Passive or excessive smoking can make you snore worse.

Alcohol – When you drink alcohol, it allows your muscles to relax more than usual when you sleep. Also, it irritates the nasal lining which can make breathing more difficult.  Just drink moderately or not a all and most likely, you will stop snoring.

Sedatives – Sedatives causes your the muscles in your body to relax more than usual, causing you to snore.  Note: Ask your doctor about taking a non-sedative alternative. Do not stop taking prescribed medicines without your physician’s permission.

Overweight - If you are overweight, no doubt you have excess fat around your neck, which makes your airways more likely to collapse.  Lose weight and you will most likely stop snoring.

Sometimes, when you desire to stop snoring it is more than just simply to stop doing what is causing you to snore.  There are more solutions to stop snoring:

  • Elevate your mattress at the end where your head rests by putting pillows underneath it.  Make sure your head is at a slight angle to help reduce nasal congestion.
  • Only use a thick pillow to increase airflow.
  • Reform usual sleeping position. If you lie flat on your back while sleep, your tongue is more likely to fall back into your throat and block your airway. You should sleep on your side, or by having your head and shoulders slightly tilted upwards, you’re less likely to snore.
  • Most people who buy the nasal strips to prevent snoring are wasting their money, studies have shown then not to work, at all.

  • Ask your doctor about mouth-guards.  It pushes your lower jaw forward (mandibular advancement device) and can be very effective at reducing snoring for some people. The mouth guard works by improving the air flow when you sleep, and you snore less.

For more solutions to stop snoring you should consult your physician.  However, this should give you some sort of idea how you can stop snoring.  Because if you have a worse condition of snoring, called sleep apnea, you could stop breathing and cause you to extreme tiredness when you awake and this is not good.
