Rihanna has finally decided to break her silence about the troubling incident in February where Chris Brown brutally beat her in a car on their way from a pre-Grammy Award party.
She talks about how she saw a text message on Chris’ phone and continued to ask about it. She knew his back was up against a wall and became violent. She says he had “black look” on his face. She didn’t see any love or life in him at that moment. She called it, “He had not soul in his eyes.”
She explains how he punched her in the eye and face. Her mouth, she says at one point ‘was filled with blood’. She didn’t know what to do. She was confused but knew the “blank look” on his face indicated he was not the person she knew before and that she had to get out of there.
She explained how she felt sorry for him and what he was going through. She went back to him after three weeks but came to realize she didn’t have the heart to do it.
She realized that she didn’t love him like that anymore. She knew by the end of their time together at Mr. Sean “P Diddy” Comb’s Miami home, she couldn’t be with him. She called him afterwards to break it off.
Rihanna told Dianne Sawyer on 20/20 and Good Morning America (GMA) that he didn’t take her decision very well. It was as if he couldn’t understand why she didn’t accept his apologies and move on with him.
Rihanna showed classic denial signs when Sawyer asked her if he ever hit her before. She denies he ever did. Sawyer was able to show reports of two other prior incidences where police were involved and he reportedly shoved her and hit her. She later admits he shoved her but never hit her.
She decides her choice to leave Chris Brown is a better influence on young girls like herself. She realized the impact of reuniting with Chris B was sending the wrong message. She told Diane Sawyer that women should leave anyone who abuses them. She even says “F… love”.
Rihanna has definately taken full control of her life now. She thought about how she would leave everything she worked hard for if she would have stayed with Chris Brown. This was dynamic because she made a move that many abused women don’t always consider.
Many abused women never put themselves or their children before this abusive man they hooked to. They will leave everything that means anything to them and anything that they cherish to follow a spouse or mate just to please him.
Rihanna is a true strong example for all women of all ages. She admits she made a mistake going back to Brown but explains she is human. She also said that the world puts her on an “unrealistic pedestal” and that she reacted like other women in the same situation.
Hats off to Rihanna for moving on with her life and not allowing “love” to rule or dictate her every move for false and hidden expectations.
