Oprah’s Gospel Favors BeBe Winans over Chris Brown’s Beatings
November 7th, 2009
‘Oprah has a lot of nerve’ says many people who have watched Oprah for years and now she supports one wife beater over another. (I know Chris Brown and Rihanna were not married but bare with me for reporting purposes.)
If you remember, Oprah dedicated shows to domestic violence and rebuked Chris Brown for his actions in the beating of his then girlfriend, singer Rihanna earlier this year before the two were supposed to appear at the Grammy Awards show.
(Read our other article on Chris Brown here). She made it very clear that ‘domestic violence is not tolerated’.
This is the case with Oprah having gospel singer of The Winans’ family, BeBe Winans on her show this week. She is helping him with promoting his new album with sister, CeCe Winans called “Still” on her Oct. 23rd show. As well as the prior news, he is supposed to appear on Oprah’s show to be a judge on a “Karaoke Challenge” segment this season.
Oprah seems to be supporting BeBe Winans regardless of the charges against him for domestic violence against is wife, Debra D. Winans earlier this year in February. He is accused of shoving her to the ground in a dispute over a verbal altercation about custody of their children. The incident happened at his ex-wife’s Nashville home but he was not picked up by police until March 11th. He was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
Oprah is openly supporting her longtime friend, BeBe Winans and has him scheduled to appear back on her show in coming weeks. It is no surprise that she defends him since she has been close friends of he and his famous gospel family, The Winans for several years.
I guess friendship comes first over what a public figure like Oprah displays to the her viewing audience about how domestic violence is ‘not tolerated.
How hypocritical can she be? Well, it seems as though she will do as she pleases because she is the ‘almighty Oprah Winfrey’!! Stay tuned for updates on this story and more.
