Michelle McNair did not know Steve would forsake her.  Surely, the man she chose to love honor and obey would commit to his end of the bargain.  One would think no one knows her husband, except for the wife, but in the case of deceased Steve McNair, obviously not.  Mechelle McNair says she did not know Steve was cheating on her. Did she know about rented condominium? Probably not, if she claims she did not know about his affairs with other women.  Now, this very prosperous couple were regular members at the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, TN., where Joseph Walker, III is the Senior Pastor who lost his first wife to cancer.  You would think Steve McNair would have learned his lesson of how one could lose their spouse, but no, instead he chose to enjoy discreet lustful pleasures and ended up losing his own life.

Michelle McNair was sleeping with the enemy and did not even realize it.  Anytime, you have a spouse who is sharing their time with lovers, outside of the marriage there are their spouse’s worst enemy.  It must be a miserable feeling for Mechelle McNair to realize Steve was her enemy, after she discovered his death, how he died and who killed him.  Let us not even think about, what kind of sexually transmitted diseases could be in her body without her knowledge.  She is left with some serious thoughts, all alone.  One could not imagine what sort of questions, she ask herself on a daily basis: “How could Steve leave me like this?  Why did live a double life?  I thought Steve was happy with me.  I thought Steve was being faithful to me.  I knew Steve had a lot women always around him, because of his fame, but I thought he was controlling himself, because he loved me.  He took this younger woman with him to his home town (Hattiesburg, Mississippi)?  How could the people of Hattiesburg see Steve with this other woman and never tell me about it.  People saw Steve out in public with this young woman, how was he hiding all this from me?  Down at Dave and Busters, people always saw them together, why was he with her and not with me?  I just don’t understand…What am I going to tell the children?  How old should they be when I tell them the truth….” You see, Michelle McNair is left not with all these thoughts, but she is left to explain the death of her children’s father.  I’m sure there are other millions of stories of betrayal after death between spouses, we do not know about, but the obvious reason we are so focused on this one, is simply because this was Steve McNair, the famous NFL athlete.

Times are hard and it is very difficult for single women to make a living, do you think Mechelle cared if Steve McNair was a womanizer.  Recently, among our board of journalists, we discussed the fact that there are some rich wives who will deal with their husband’s infidelity, because they are enjoying the wealth.  Just to look at Mechelle, a church going woman, do you think she just decided to deal with it, because she knew no other woman would take her place as the wife of Steve McNair?   When I heard the it could be true, I hated to believe it.  However, there are some women like that, they would just rather deal with their husband’s infidelity and enjoy the riches and prestigious title as the wife of a famous celebrity.  Remember, again, Mechelle McNair said she did not know Steve was cheating on her.  It was as though she was this naive wife who really trusted her husband and honored him as though he were a king.  Steve McNair seemed humbly loyal in this wedding photo and does not seem like the type to ever make a choice to live a double life, no not this man.  It does not matter what excuse his friend, Eddie George came up with on Dateline.  Eddie George defended Steve McNair’s adultery, as if he might as well talk about himself, claiming that it professional athletes are tempted by women who constantly haunt them.  The way Eddie George spoke about Steve McNair’s double life, it seemed as though professional athletes cannot help themselves, because the sin of lust is out of their control. I ask you this question, if the sin of lust is out of a professional athlete’s control, then is all the fame and fortune worth it?  Didn’t the very Bible that Steve Mcnair, including his wife read: “What profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”  Matthew 6:25, Mark 8:36

Does a cheating spouse who is murdered by their mistress or love ever think they are their spouse’s worst enemy?  Obviously not, because after Steve McNair’s death he left more shock for his his wife Mechelle is being financially held responsible for the $43,000 to pay off a loan on a 2007 Cadillac Escalade he bought with his mistress.    There are claims filed  against his $19.6 million estate (the earnings comes from stocks, business holdings,real estate,and cash) such as: late payments on an apartment he co-signed on with a 26-year-old woman, outstanding credit card bills, and claims from his two oldest children from prior relationships.  Steve McNair, the famous NFL player who could not control his sinful lust and allowed a 20-year old woman to destroy his future was not even smart to leave a will.   Any man who is not smart enough to leave a will, so that his wife and children can be cared for is another indication that he was Michelle’s worst enemy.   One last thought, “how long will it take for Mechelle McNair to forget about Steve’s betrayal, if she is always thinking about how to pay off his debt?”  The thought of Steve McNair’s nasty business will be in her mind for a very long time.

Regarding Steve McNair’s restaurant, Gridiron9, customers were going in there to pay their respects to the deceased quarterback. Mechelle Mcnair told the judge and co-owners she did not desire any part of the ownership and it has been sold.
