Breast cancer is a spiritual matter just like any other disease, so if you are not a spiritual individual, please do not waste your time reading this article.  For this reason,  we must first deal with our spirits, before we can begin to heal.  This article is not saying that all women disrespect each other, but there is a high number of women who think nothing of verbally insulting or humiliating another woman, for what ever reason and we must begin search inside our souls to see, if there are things we may have said or done to cause women not to be in unity.  Many women who have died may have been the sweetest spirits.  There are many women who are dying of breast cancer who are very sweet; however, for many women who have been guilty of not being sweet spirits toward other women have only helped breast cancer to spread at an alarming rate.

Although, we acknowledged that there are some men who are the lowest percentage of breast cancer patients, there are a lot more women who are at high risk and this article to forewarn women to pull together and realize that many are guilty of not being supportive to each other; therefore, they do not respect each other when we are not regularly focused on this issue and yet there are many who are still dying of breast cancer.  Another issue we cannot fix is, African American women are at a higher risk with this disease just like AIDS and for some reason, it is difficult for them to unite, even though they have lost a lot of women within their own race.  African American women remain at the same level of a breast cancer death rate, than other races of women who are going down to a lower rate (2%) of cases.  It seems like breast cancer would be a powerful motive to unite, but there is still a lot of prejudice, jealousy, hatred and racial discrimination among all women.  This is a red flag that all women should learn how to unite, so that we can combat breast cancer.  We must realize that many times we hurt in our lives, because women have been enemies against each other while breast cancer has not ceased us.

As a journalist, I can personally share why I wrote this article, because it hurts that we have women who discourage other women, because of hatred, this could be the reason why women are yet dying of breast cancer.  There are grandmothers and granddaughters, mothers and daughters, female siblings, female supervisors and employees, female professors and students, aunts and nieces, close girlfriends who are not in unity and yet, we wait until the month of October to try to combat breast cancer.   On a daily basis, we must learn how to respect each other and stop offending, humiliating, oppressing and discriminating against each other, before we can expect this disease called breast cancer to cease us.  Spiritually, it may still exist, because a lot of women still hate and do not love each other and this message is for all women. There is still a high rate of bitterness among women.  We fail to discuss this matter, because we think it is better to keep quiet, instead of addressing the problem, but we must realize it is unhealthy not to admit the truth.  The truth is simply this, women have hurt each other sometimes much more than men and women whether they be white, black, Asian or Latino have spoken words that have ruined our own unity.  When you suppress pain, it will dissolve in your body and effect your  progress in life.   There are so many issues as women that still miserably haunts our spirits.  For instance, when any woman in authority humiliates an employee or a student, this does nothing but ruin our unity among women.  There are millions of women who think nothing of plotting to halt another one’s success and do not even realize that breast cancer exist to kill us all.  Breast cancer is a serious issue and if there has been words spoken to us that haunts us, no wonder God has allowed this disease to spread.

Personally, I feel pain whenever I think about women who appeared on talk shows and have proudly boasted that they have been with another woman’s husband or boyfriend and smirked about it.  I feel pain trying to forget and forgive a former boss or teacher who told me I could not accomplish anything, because of the color of my skin or even a woman of the same race as myself, black.  There have been actual cases when women have supported their husband or boyfriend who has mentally, verbally or physically abused and tormented another woman who could be a neighbor, friend or a relative.  It does not matter what color a woman is, if she has wounded the spirit of another woman and thought nothing of it, this could be the very reason breast cancer has not ceased us.  However, we may never see those women again and the hardest thing to do, is to forget and forgive, but we must do it.  Although, it is painful to unite with women who do not confess what has done nothing but help kill us off, we must pull together with women who are willing to read this article and realize the issue has been within ourselves and among ourselves as women.

Furthermore, when it comes to health, yes we can eat right, exercise and do all the necessary things to prolong our lives; however, it will do us no good if we refuse to deal with the spiritual issue that we suppress in our daily lives, hate instead of love.  Often times, we must learn how to love ourselves, if we had never had anyone to tell us.  Look at yourself in the mirror, everyday and say, “I love you.” As a woman, we must speak good things to our own souls, the opposite of whatever that cruel female employer or teacher said to us, because those specific women in whatever authoritative position, friend, co-worker or relative may never come back and say I’m sorry for hurting you.  If they told you you are not intelligent or cannot do what other women can do, then-you must turn it around and encourage someone else, some stranger you may not even know, because what you are doing is healing yourself from those annoying memories.  It does not matter, if you know the particular woman needs to hear encouraging words or not, heal yourself and let another woman know she can do the impossible in her life, she’s special and you are there for her, it is simply called unity.  When you speak life into other people, you are giving it back to yourself.

Now, let us turn the tables around, possibly you are guilty of the disunion among women.  You may have been a prejudice woman who has spoken words into a woman who you thought was not intelligent as yourself.  You maybe guilty of conspiring with a group of women against one woman who was trying so hard to get her education or keep her job.  You maybe guilty of backing up your husband or boyfriend who despised a woman, because of his discreet propositions.  You maybe guilty of stealing a man’s time away from his spouse or girlfriend.  You may have unknowingly done something to contribute to this disease, breast cancer that has stolen a woman’s life.  Do some soul searching and repent.   Do not only repent to God, but to yourself, because often times, as women we may not realize the hatred against another woman maybe some sort of insecurities within ourselves and you may hate yourself.  You must tell yourself you are sorry, because you are not only tormenting yourself, but you are killing yourself.  Tell some woman she is special and encourage her, do or say something different than what you have negatively said to that student or employee, co-worker, colleague or relative.  For example, if you have hated another woman who is black in your past and did anything to discriminate against her, go to any black woman and do whatever you can to make up for it.  On the flip side, if you are a a black woman who has oppressed another black woman, because of her complexion, go to any black woman and speak words of encouragement into her life to make up for it.  To be fair, if you are a black woman who has resented a white women, because of past racial discrimination, you must refuse to look at all white women the same way and begin to open the door to a white woman who are open to unity and begin saying nice things to her, you would never think of ever saying before.  Again, when you speak life into other people, you are giving it back to yourself.

In conclusion, we can unite as women and combat breast cancer when we not only speak life into other women, but we can heal when we love ourselves first.  Let us survive in unity and admit our guilt of assisting breast cancer or any other disease of  destroying the lives of millions of women.  Our spirits must heal and we must first repent, before we receive the miracle of getting rid of breast cancer for good.
